I love Ruby Slipper and have been a patron of Ruby Slipper since it had its single location on Clara Street. I have been to most Ruby Slipper locations in New Orleans and one and Alabama. A friend and I wanted to visit all of the locations on the Gulf Coast at one point. I frequently recommend Ruby Slipper to out of towners, as a place to have brunch with the girls, and host guests. Despite the above, this location gave me the single worst experiences that I had EVER at a Ruby Slipper. I visited early in the morning with a friend who had a layover and the Veterans location was the closest to the airport. My friend hasn’t had Ruby Slipper before and a Rub Slipper/Sunshine has never let me downz we arrived bright and early and there was a bit of a crowd and plenty of open tables. The service was very slow and the time to get food from ordering to the table took a while, though there seemed a good bit of staff around. We ordered the peach cobbler bengeits as a starter. They were okay. The Begniets were a bit overcooked, the peaches at the bottom were a bit soupy, and there wasn’t a lot of powder sugar (a staple of a begneit). My friend ordered some biscuits and some fried greened tomatoes for her meal. The biscuits came cold, but found the fried green tomatoes to be okay. The presentation of the tomatoes was a bit messy. I ordered the pig candied bacon bites and a hot honey chicken biscuit. The pig candied bacon came out burnt and I started to eat the chicken biscuit. I notified the waitress and she informed me that it was “what they had left,” indicating she and whoever cooked knew the food was burnt and still served it to me. I didn't comment because I was really trying to show my friend a nice time and I didn't want to be upset. She took the order back to make a new batch., The “new” order of bacon, which appeared to be the same bacon recooked with more sugar, also appeared to be burnt on the edges and tasted burnt. Halfway through eating my chicken biscuit I noticed a weird taste and the chicken began to look dry. I lift up fhe piece of chicken fo see that was also burnt. My waitress didnt come back for a bit and what appreard another waitress asked us for assistanxe and we asked for the check and i let her know my food was burnt. She said she would speak with the manager and when she came back she said they took of the biscuit. I asked about rhe bacon because it was also burnt and she got an attitude with me before walking off. Our waitress eventually came back and I let her know the check still needed to be fixed, which she did. Then had the audacity to pre-select the 25% tip option. My friend and I were the only Black customers and other customers around us were enjoying their food, while we were treated in such an unwelcoming manner. I still tipped 20% because I have human empathy, when I really shouldn’t have. I will never be visiting this...
Read moreThe food was cold. We were told they were short handed when we were seated, and that the food may take a bit longer to come out that day. We were okay with it, until our food came out cold. It looked beautiful, but cold eggs and bacon simply isn't anyway to eat your breakfast, especially when you're paying way higher prices for breakfast.
We asked if they could please reheat it for us, but were told they don't have a microwave. Why? Why would any restaurant not have a microwave? When the manager came to our table,
I asked why wouldn't they have a microwave to heat what was served cold. She was very polite and apologetic, but dafür m informed us that they would rather remake the meal than have microwaves in their establishments.
I didn't get that they would rather throw away perfectly good food or cold coffee, rather than quickly zap it in a microwave oven for a customer who doesn't mind it and request it.
She offered to remake my breakfast, but they were already understaffed, so it didn't make much sense for me to do that. I would have had to sit around for another long spell of time, only for it to possibly happen again.
The thing is this..... if the kitchen was understaffed, but the servers were keeping up with their tables, why would the food be cold, unless it was sitting up there for a REALLY LONG TIME WAITING TO BE PICKED UP?
So whose to blame here? The kitchen or the server? There were 3 of us and all of our dishes were cold. My husband paid $4.00 extra for a very small freezing cold pancake. I had the migas, which looked beautiful but were ice cold.
The problem could have been quickly rectified had they simply zapped our meals in a microwave, but that was not possible, because apparently Ruby Slipper does not believe in having microwave ovens in their restaurants.
Needless to say, I did not enjoy my meal and neither did the rest of our party. I took it to go and left hungry, disappointed and having paid a pretty penny for a less than acceptable meal.
My suggestion for a solution.... Invest in a microwave for your customers that would like to have their coffee and...
Read moreI visited this Metairie, La location after church 04-13-25 for brunch. The wait wasn't to long for my party but oh my did this turn out to be a nightmare experience. I ordered food for myself , my 1 year old and my 11 year old and when the bill came it was 106.00 Not really paying attention I didn't analyze the error until I got home. I was actually charged for an entire extra meal that I never ordered and a 20% gratuity that is normally only added for a party of 6 adults or more. I NEVER have a problem tipping even if the service is bad, I just make a executive decision to go or not go back. And to put the icing on the cake I still tipped an add'l 10.00 not realizing that it was already added. When I realized the error I immediately called the venue and the manager was off that day and I was told to call back. I did the following day and spoke with him. {Kyle W} He gave me his email address and the steps of what needed to be done to process a refund. I have checked back and forth with the location and no resolution has been made. I also went in this past week thinking that an in person interaction would be more productive. But I am still getting the run around. Now today is May 02- 2025 where in the world does it take that long to issue a refund.??? I am extremely appalled at the service and the response and I will NEVER EVER GO HERE AGAIN.!!! Go at your own risk but make very sure you check your bill before you leave. Can you imaging the profit being made if 40.00 plus add'l dollars is added on to every...
