City Cafe — Restaurant in Louisiana

My family and I have been going to this establishment for over a decade because we like the food, the service, and atmosphere and we hadn’t really had any major issues until today. We sat down, ordered our drinks, after a while, we proceeded to order our meals. We then realized we wanted some onion rings as they looked good on the neighbor’s plate. When we received the onion rings, they were cold and soggy as if they sent us an order that was messed up which had been sitting under the heat lamp, I told the guy who dropped them onion rings off that the rings were cold cold, he didn’t anything, just picked them up and took them to the back. A couple of minute later, he came back out with the rings. Same soggy rings just warm. they looked and felt like they had been microwaved. We set them aside waiting for the server to back to the table to tell her to just take them off our ticket. By this time our food had already taken a long time. The server looked my way and I guess she saw my face of discontent and figured something was going on. She came to our table and said I’m sorry for the long wait it shouldn’t be much longer. By this time we were already bothered and ready to go, as we are getting ready to get out of our seats, here comes I guess she was a manager with our food and she is wondering what’s going on. I proceeded to explain to her the situation with the onion rings -and the food taking for ever. All she was “well the food is here now.” and I said to her that we were leaving and that they needed to cancel it. Nothinf else was said to us. Just ok! It’s just above me how after coming here for over a decade, we had this experience, not to mention the quality of the food is not half of what it used to. We are still in awe. Today was just a horrible experience. They should be ashamed of serving food like the onion rings they brought out to us. I expect that at any fast food establishment but...

I want to start by saying I myself grew up with a chef for a mom and in the hospitality and food service industry and I also cook so I am indeed a big critic. Restaurant was very clean and staff was extremely sweet especially my host and my waiter. My side salad was very fresh no brown weathered lettuce and that was very appreciated as well as the utensils was clean no water stains or anything. Only thing that i did not like was upon ordering and it being my first time visiting i noticed that the menu said no refunds and all sales are final. I ordered the chicken breaux bridge and it came out looking very presentable but it wasn’t tasty. It was something about the Alfredo sauce or maybe the chicken im not sure but I didn’t like it and my french bread tasted like it could’ve had some type of chemical residue on it from the grill. I was even scared to tell my waiter due to what the menu said but I did it any way. He was so polite about it but I don’t know if the elderly Caucasian woman with the blonde hair is the manager or owner she must’ve told him no to a refund but said that they wouldn’t mind getting me something else to eat which was fine to me but come to find out I had to pay for the other meal which wasn’t my plan but all is well. I did not like that when I asked for a manager she stood right there and heard me and still don’t come to see and I was extremely polite with saying i didn’t like it. Another Review: My ladies group went again tobight (1-11-24) and this time my 2 year old joined. I can not recommend City Cafe enough! We were on our way out and my daughter said "potty mommy", so we ran. #pottytraining Well when we came out she asked for her chicken strip left overs and I realized I forgot them at the table when we ran to the restroom. Afterwards, we hurried to the room we were in and it had already been cleaned up. How dare they be SO efficient! Lol... My daughter looked up at the waitress with "those eyes" and I asked ooook.... how much for another order to bring home?! Well she went and spoke with the manager, who had already been in our room loving on the babies and approved for her to get her another kids meal on the house! Not only that, but when our waitress took our group picture at the end of our dinner, she overheard me tell Madison if she smiled I'd get her ice cream on the way home. #briberyworks So while we are waiting on our kids meal, Kaci our waitress asks if I was serious about the ice cream and then says, "I'll be right back!" She then returns with a cup of vanilla ice cream and my daughter is on cloud nine! The food, atmosphere and staff are top notch!
