Hobnobber Cafe — Restaurant in Louisiana

What can I say about the Hobbnobber Cafe? OMG! So good!! And the portions were so much more than I expected. Let's just say I have enough for a full lunch tomorrow. I had the combo platter. The fish were perfectly flaky and the shrimp were tail-less. Finally a restaurant that removes the tails before frying the shrimp! The side of potato salad was perfect, no onions or pickles (there is a side choice of potato salad or regular salad). My son had the Tuesday special of trout almondine, which came out fried-which was a little shocking because most restaurants grill it. But it was a larger sized portion of trout, covered with the slivered almonds (and I'm not sure if they had a sauce on it or not, but it looked really good.) And I overheard a regular customer telling her aunt that she could get it grilled or blackened if she didn't want it fried. But as this was out first time there we didn't know what to expect, but we know now. I was a little taken aback by the price, but after I added it all up (because we had an appetizer of mozzarella sticks and I added an order of their Braland Potatoes), I realized their prices are just as awesome as their food! They also have daily specials (Tuesday-trout almondine, meatloaf and mashed potatoes, something else I can't remember), that are reasonably priced, with portions large enough to satisfy this hefty appetite. 😁 We will...

Update: My husband is still disappointed and could not consume his fish. He says he would never just assume that trout almondine was fried and not seared. He will not order this dish again. Restaurant should include description on how the dish is presented this would really solve the problem or at least give the customer an opportunity to order without having to assume.

Update: Called back and spoke with the owner Cyndi...she took the opportunity and customer feedback as a way to improve the customer's experience. I felt heard but still hesitant on whether I will return to this establishment in the future. Very confusing and misleading when there are photos displayed on the register and I order in reference to the photos and was given something totally different. Got home and noticed that my order wasn't as I expected so I called the restaurant to inquire and Donna (the cashier answering the phone) was full of excuses and very matter of fact unapologetic in leaving me to be the blame and the reason for their misleading advertisements. Wow, my experience was nice until this happened. The owner needs to know that a new customer would not know that they would need to request their trout grilled and not fried if the photos advertised...

Every single time I have been going there from its previous location years ago, I finally found them again! Let me say several things! AMAZING FOOD! But not just that, they host these wine gatherings between a very tight knit group of friends and family in praise of Bacchus😉 and we have been there several times to watch these cats in action! It’s something that makes you smile from ear to ear! Then something even more profound happened today. My fiancé and I had been dealing with these “governors” “laws” and its put a real toll on our sanity being that we have had our business closed due to his standards!!!! I woke up this morning and threw my hands in the air and said “I HAVE HAD IT WITH EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING!!!!!” I guess it’s called a nervous breakdown!?🤪 While we were waiting on our food (not much of a wait, Because they are that awesome) my love points out a sign on the wall that has single handily made my day better!
