You don’t get as much food on your plate as some Asian restaurants but it was very good . Lately , we’ve been comparing shrimp with lobster sauce around town at different Asian restaurants . This number 1 for flavor so far , however not number one in the amount or size of shrimp they give you . Personally , I’m into the size , amount , and quality of shrimp on my plate , Very tasty , however . (Didn’t care for the tiny shrimp in my rice or the pink color on my rice. )Atmosphere was lovely but could have been friendlier . Also , feed your fish so it doesn’t want to eat my hair . I asked the name of the fish , the girl said he didn’t have a name . They call it red devil . Gee, how nice . Name your fish for God’s sake . How rude .

We have dined here multiple times in the past. However today when we went we noticed that the aquarium was separated by like 80/20. On the small side was the biggest fish by itself. On the other side were 5 additional fish. It was not always like this because you cannot miss a big fish without enough room to turn around as you try and eat. I asked the waitress about this and she told me that the bigger fish was a bully. If that’s the case give it away or buy an additional aquarium so the poor fish can move around. It must be very lonely because it used to be with all the other fish. Seeing this ruined my appetite and I will never be back here.

Lunch is usually pretty good. Unfortunately they're cheap on the wong tong chips for the soups. It's extra if you want more. I recommend the moo goo. Very tasty and healthy.

my coworkers and myself was at Cathay today for lunch. WE were regulars we like the food not the service so much. As of today I don't even like the food anymore. we had 2 orders of boneless chicken 1 white meat and 1 dark meat. the other orders were stir fry plates. the boneless chicken came out first and they were both cold the chicken and vegetables. I called the waitress with the long black hair over to our table. I told the her about the food she began to laugh and told me it was because it was cold outside. I asked her why are you laughing this is not a joke i told her that I was serious she again told me about outside being cold. she did not offer to heat the food. nothing but telling me that it was cold outside. I told her that outside had nothing to do with the kitchen.

I told my coworkers the only thing Cathey can do for me is not bring me a bill. the full bill came I thought about not paying. if it had been after work hours I may still be at Cathays. I paid and left. my money is good at any other Chinese restaurant in Harahan.

me and my coworkers wont be back. and we were regulars. I will let others know about your waitress, with the long black hair, who acts like she owns the place. I was told she didn't she was rude and i will let other know how we...

Cathay Imperial has been 1 of my favorite Chinese restaurants for DECADES for both its lovely environment & its great food. I have lived out of state for about the last 4 years & hadn't been back there until recently. On my recent visit-I was very disappointed in just how much it has changed. Firstly, I realize that most everywhere: portions have become smaller while the prices have gone up & this has happened at Cathay Imperial. But my favorite lunch special which is now priced at $11.50 was the size of a child's meal & the food was overcooked, bland & greasy. I had sweet & sour shrimp which did not come w/the customary savory vegetables like sliced onion, carrots or bell peppers-it was just shrimp & sauce. The sauce portion was placed underneath the shrimp & was so skimpy that it was not enough to cover the shrimp. When I asked for more sauce, the waitress was rude & looked offended but eventually brought me some. My waitress continued w/her bad attitude & she was neither personable nor helpful & ignored me for most of my lunch. The majority of my fried shrimp were as hard as a rock & inedible. So I don't know what happened to this once great restaurant but it was a terrible dining experience & I will not...

Ample parking. Busy and single open dining area, but tables are spaciously placed. Atmosphere is a little lacking but there are beautiful aquariums.

Staff are efficient, courteous, attentive and helpful. Decent prices. Great food. I recommend their Mandarin chicken, fried shrimp appetizers, and the Wonton soup is great, but I always go for the egg drop soup, it's really flavorful and one of my favorite egg drops.

Don't be afraid to ask for extras, or if something isn't right. For instance my noodles were a little too crisp on my last visit, but they quickly brought me fresher ones.

A little hidden gem in Airline Park Shopping Center, and after you can walk next door, to Dairy Queen for a sweet dessert! I've been a patron many years and have always had a pleasant experience, and filling! You will want a box, one because of the generous portions and two because you'll want to save some for the next...
