Arrive around 5p for dinner. Was told there was a 25 min wait but only waited about 10 min. The restaurant has been newly renovated since I was there about 3 years ago. There are more booths and the bar area is much bigger. There seems to also be an area for large groups as well. The oyster bar is now where the old liquor bar was and the liquor bar us now where the large group seating and bathroom was. The is a large tent outside for those ordering pickup and pickup orders are now made at a separate entrance and register on the side of the building. The main entrance is now at the far end of the restaurant compared to the old entrance in the middle of the restaurant. The book was absolutely perfect. I think they have gotten even better since the renovations. We order sweet tea, pink lemonade and water as our drinks. Thinking the portions would be fairly small as in the pass, we ordered the half of onion rings and the spinach artichoke dip. Big mistake, the portion size was HUGE, should have only ordered one or the other. The onion rings were crispy on the outside and soft inside. Some were a little cold but ok. Had a great taste. The spinach artichoke dip came with fresh tortilla chips. The dip was covered in a think cheese and very creamy inside. Awesome flavor. The appetizer place are a little small in my opinion. My mom wanted ribeye steak but they were out so she chose the grilled porkchop instead with a side bake potato. She got all of her toppings on the side and they have a lot of them (half a stick of butter, really). The porkchop can be order fried, grilled, or Hawaiian. It was well seasoned and two huge porkchops đ„© come with the order. I ordered the fish đ and shrimp đ€ Platter and paid $2 more for sweet potato fries. The original side choices are potato salad or French fries. They brought out entirely toooooo much food. I made it through the shrimp, about 15 -18 medium size shrimp, seasoned and cooked to perfection. There were also 5 pieces of fish that couldn't even touch neither the fries because I was way too full. The cocktail sauce is great. Did not care for the tartar sauce, to mayo-y. We were visited by one of the co-owners, Mr. Ray Bergeron, the dad of Mark Bergeron. He was very polite and funny. He talked to us as if he knew us personally. Such a sweetheart and awesome guy. He is most likely the life of the family and a great guy to work with. Overall we had a great experience. Bill total before tip was $69.and change but so worth it. Will definitely have to...
Read moreI want to take an opportunity to provide my restaurant experience. Allow me the opportunity to be transparent. For starters, my wife and I arrived after purchasing a frozen Daiquiris from another establishment. We arrived at 8:01pm; there was maybe four other guest in the establishment I'm not sure if they had already order, but they were not eating. A gentleman promptly asked if we would like to order I must say his breathe was very offensive and in hindsight we initially left because he spoke to us at least four times and each time it was more unbearable.
We placed an order of crawfish fries and a fish half/half have broiled, half fried, it took an entire 55 MINUTES for us to receive this order. When I arrived home there was some kinky hair texture in my greens (I have a bald head and my wife has dreadlocks and at no point an time did she come in contact with my food). At no point during this wait did the staff take the opportunity to state "I apologize for the wait, can I offer you a complimentary Daiquiri; we are experiencing etc.."
Furthermore, I was in earshot of listening to our waiter discuss with another guest that when phone orders are place they are not prepared until the person arrives in the store to pay for the item. I understand perhaps if there is an issue with someone ordering a large order and not arriving, but those orders should take payment over the phone. The purpose of someone ordering is because time is money and I don't want to wait in an establishment while you prepare my food that I'm under the belief will be ready when I arrive. I will "NEVER" return to this location because of the experience I had yesterday, but I wanted to provide this honest feedback in the event that management can makes some changes to prevent future guest from having the same experience I had my recommendations "Hairnets which should be standard practice, money handlers should wash their hands before touching food containers prior to said touching, hygiene in hospitality is first rule of business, develop an app payment system to prevent cook order non-payment it's practically 2020 and this operation...
Read moreWith a decent atmosphere, excellent service and fair prices this restaurant is worth a visit albeit with a few minor exceptions.
Starting with the food, I've been to this restaurant multiple times and have tried many dishes and one common factor I recognize between them is the blandness of the food. While the food is cooked properly it has no seasoning and I do understand they give you a tray of seasonings such as salt, black pepper & some hot sauces that are on every table, however I still feel the food should contain some seasoning rather than being completely bland. With a restaurant name containing New Orleans in it I expect some seasoning in the food. I have visited multiple times to try a few dishes and make sure this wasn't a single dish occurrence which I have learned it is not almost all dishes are bland and require more seasoning.
When it comes to the atmosphere it's okay, I've rated the atmosphere here as a 3 as there are some paintings on the walls and decent music, but that's about it there's really nothing special like a Taco Del Cartel with flowers on the ceiling or something like a Cheddars scratch kitchen with giant sea shell fans & a huge fishtank both of which are 5 star atmosphere experiences.
When it comes to service it's excellent 5-star experience every time here. The service is really what carries this place to a 3-star rating, I'm on the verge of giving a 2-star rating for this restaurant but I cannot due to the excellent quality of the service presented.
If New Orleans Food & Spirits can step the game up in the kitchen & spice the atmosphere up a bit more this restaurant can improve for me and possibly others as I am only one opinion of the millions, so as always with my reviews take it with a grain of salt, try for yourself, & see what you think before just throwing it out the basket as a possible...
