Great new local cafƩ in North Metairie! Perks has coffee, breakfast food, and lunch fare in a nice comfortable neighborhood atmosphere.
Highly recommend the breakfast croissant sandwich. I ordered mine with bacon egg and cheese. The sandwich was toasted on a sandwich press and came out nice and warm with the buttery croissant, melted cheese and plenty of eggs and bacon. It was a great large portioned sandwich unlike many of the small breakfast sandwiches out there.
My favorite surprise was the Kolache. This was not a normal small, get one on the side, sort of kolache. The smoked sausage was baked into a huge fluffy roll and topped with cheese. It was best eaten with a fork and knife. I don't think I've ever had a kolache that was a meal itself.
Tried the coffee, it's a New Orleans type strong black coffee with a hint of chicory. If you're expecting a light breakfast blend of coffee this is not it. Not sure if they offer an additional drip coffee, I was not offered anything else. But I thought it was a good strong coffee, not bitter at all.
The restaurant itself is very nicely decorated inside. The remodel of the previous space was done very well with alot of attention to detail. There's plenty of indoor seating at and a few small tables outside. There's a drive thru you can pull into off Clearview. The only reason I don't give it five stars is the parking. There's about six awkward spots located behind and on the side of the restaurant. And unfortunately along Fairfield there's little additional street parking because of how the driveways are arranged. Maybe they'll get another business to share parking in the future? hint hint
Highly recommend supporting this local business! Great food, calm wonderful atmosphere, and beautiful reuse of a previously...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCute little coffee shop style cafe with big restaurant plates. We had the California omelette with extra bacon. EVERYTHING was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Our food came out in less than 10 mins. We will be back next time we're in the area.
The only thing I was annoyed with, but I didn't think it was worth taking a star away, was their lack of clear pricing. They have a small note at the bottom of their menu mentioning price changes due to inflation. The prices on the menu reflect the old prices, there's nothing crossing them out. It appears as if THOSE are the inflated prices. It's misleading. When I was expecting to pay $12.75 for an omelette, it was $16.75. And because they're tablet wasn't updated I didn't see my total till my card was ran and the order was placed. So what I thought would be a $30 breakfast for 2 was $50. That's a big difference. I think printing paper menus with new prices would be more efficient. If one someone goes in there with only a certain amount of money and doesn't know what they can afford ahead of time because they don't have the current prices prior to placing their order, it makes for an...

The food is good, the drinks are good and the staff is friendly. Those are the reasons I begrudgingly return.
The reason I don't return more frequently than I do is the blatantly dishonest pricing. They haven't updated their drive-thru menu board in years, and it's not some sort of high end thing. It's the sort of sign you can have printed for a couple hundred bucks at a sign shop. It's the same story with the website. Today I ordered an item listed as $7.96 on the website, and it was $10.06 (before tax) when I went to pay.
They had the funds to open a second location a year ago, so I don't buy the argument that they can't afford to stay on top of the pricing better than they do. I guess other customers complained because they posted a little sign in the pick-up window that says "Until food costs stabilize prices will be different." The problem is that this has been going on for over 2 years here, and there's really no effort on the part...
