We went on a Friday, and it was slammed pack inside and outside sitting of the restaurant. Modern updated vibe! Went inside to get a table at 7:30 and got lucky enough a table of 6 had just gotten up. After us, they had 12 more guests that just walked in. The general manager rushed over that table and started to clean and set it up for our family of four immediately. As soon as we sat the waitress gotten our drink orders and told us about the drink special $2 OFF any specialty drinks on Friday I chose a delicious "pineapple mojoitos" which was strong and tasted so good and you know they really hook you the on alcohol. The drink was like $6 , but worth triple. You can't find any mix cocktails like that anywhere in town that has it at that price on the weekend ever. Hubby has the beer, and it was nice and cold. As busy as they were, we got our drinks in less than 5 mins. We ordered our food and chose what was popular by just looking at the other table. This place has a nice vibe even though it was a full house. When walking in to check in for a table. We got to glimpse each and every order that was coming out. I knew we were in the right restaurant for our family date night dinner right away. Everything came out presented nice ,fresh, hot, and mouth-watering! They even have special discount running every day of the week and another specialty food menu every month that they change up beside the main menu. That monthly special is on the chalkboard next to the register and a sheet along with their regular menu when seated. We didn't even wait long for our food. I was so shocked how fast it came out and with so many people coming in and out of the restaurants. I was like, "No way, they got this under control. I was wrong!!! Our food came out hot, and we highly recommend getting the (Swamp Nachos) such a tasty ,fulfilling appetizer that is full of meat and the cheese and sauce oozing down on each chips. The pizza is another popular item that literally every table had one or two set up. This one was so hot and fresh. The kids loved the pizza so much that they wanted us to pick up for takeout for now on since we live a block down from here. Didn't know this place would be such a hidden gem. We see it being packed outside of the restaurants every time we drove by. After 2 years of passing it up. We realize how we have been missing out on how great of a place this could be when we were deciding to stay in Metaire to eat. Parking was a full house, so we were left parking close to the end of the back by a nail salon, which was well litted and safe and okay as it was something expected on a Friday night. The food was so good and for the price you can definitely dine here once a week and not break your wallet. They price their menu really affordable and hope they keep it like that. I love the fact that this restaurant doesn't charge hidden service fees or automatically tips like some restaurants are starting to do now and days. 10/10...
Read moreI can’t say enough good things about this wonderful new place. Walked in, immediately felt comfortable, knew we made the right choice.
The service is fantastic. Servers are attentive and friendly, and the manager (maybe the owner?) came over to check on us twice and was very appreciative of our visit. Place was half-filled - good for a rainy Thursday night. Word needs to get out about this wonderful place.
I started with a unique appetizer: fresh fried pork rinds (see pic below). They were fabulous and you get a lot for $4. I got the Mushroom Burger (comes with fries) and it was the best mushroom burger I’ve ever had! Fries were terrific.
Other menu choices include chicken & waffles, pizzas, burgers, hamburger steak, etc. I will try the pizza next - it looked excellent. They don’t have fried chicken (I mean chicken on the bone with skin) but I suggested it on my way out. I hope they add it to the menu - I’ll be there weekly!
Prices are about what you would expect for a place like this but the portions are extremely generous.
They also have nice outdoor seating for those cool afternoons or nice evenings when it’s not raining.
Plenty of parking and easy access.
The only setback I’ve ever had was that I wasn’t allowed to sit where I wanted (i.e., my usual table) because they were trying to distribute the customers evenly amongst the servers. My brother wanted to watch a basketball game, and we were seated as far from the TV as we could have been. This was the only negative thing that’s ever happened to me there. Usually they’re super accommodating, so this was an unfortunate aberration.
Five stars! This is a gem tucked away on West Esplanade. Give them a try - you’ll be very...
Read moreMy family of 4 was just in here a few nights ago for dinner. This place opened up recently in a former waffle place...and you can tell because the garish waffle facade still adorns the outside. Y'all really should do something about this.
The service was great and everyone inside was nice. Slight gripe because it seemed like the chef touched some tables and not others? If the chef / owner comes out of the back they need to touch all of the tables and not just one or two.
Speaking of tables, this place was cramed in tighter than what it should be. I felt like if I turned in my chair, I would ram elbows with the guy at the next table. The rest of the inside was meh and soulless. They did have this TV on with an infinite loop of their deserts. One or two times it was nice but over the course of dinner I really got tired of seeing the same iPhone footage of a cake and some beignet fries.
Food wise, this place was meh. Everything was HOT...like almost dangerously so. I had the boudin egg rolls and even though they were bias sliced, the inside was still hot pocket nuclear hot for about 15 minutes. Those wrappers retain heat better than a boudin casing, so yall may need to adjust something here. We got 2 different pizzas as they again were meh. They were HOT and every slice had the toppings slide right off. Maybe chill with the oil on the dough under the sauce or something, but every single slice on both pizzas had their toppings slide off. It's not a topping overload thing because one pizza was just cheese and the other was pepperoni and onions. Hopefully my criticism is constructive.
All in all, the place was meh. It's fine for Metairie and obviously supporting small business is better than going...
