Imagine wanting these delicious French desserts on the way home from a long road trip. We drove 15 minutes out of the way on the way home from Florida. Last year we stopped at a great place in Mobile and wanted to continue the tradition.
We walked into Rue and were immediately greeted by the owner. He went through the menu and we put in our order. We got regular beignets, an order of toes(basically small holes) and some fingers( long strips). The 5 minute wait for our golden brown beignets covered in delicious powdered sugar was well worth it. I also ordered a cup of traditional Cafe Au Lait which was tasty and much needed for our 9 hour drive.
The ambiance was very homie. The restaurant was very clean and well kept. In talking to the owner he said he had been open for over 11 years. This was his store and he cared for it greatly. You could tell he poured his heart into it with every beignet he served. It was well decorated with beautiful art that looked like he handpicked over the years. It seems like this was his passion and he loves what he does daily.
The front door has a sign on it that reads, Open 364 days a year. Closed Dec 25th. Having that type of work ethic truly comes through every bite you take of these...
Read moreRue Beignet is a small, family-owned beignet shop in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, that serves up some of the best beignets I've ever had. The beignets are made fresh to order, and they are light, fluffy, and perfectly golden brown. The powdered sugar coating is generous but not overwhelming, and the beignets are still warm when they arrive at your table.
I ordered a dozen beignets to share with my family, and they were all gone in minutes. The beignets are perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dessert. They are also a great snack to enjoy on the go.
In addition to the beignets, Rue Beignet also offers a variety of coffee drinks, as well as other sweet treats, such as cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies. I tried the chicory coffee, which was strong and flavorful. It was the perfect complement to the beignets.
The service at Rue Beignet is friendly and efficient. The staff is always happy to answer questions and make recommendations.
Overall, I highly recommend Rue Beignet to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic...
