⭐ 1 Star (Because 0 isn’t an option) Location: Shipley Do-Nuts – Metairie, LA
I made the mistake of ordering as soon as the store opened, expecting hot, fresh donuts. Instead, I received dry, overcooked, borderline stale donuts that had zero glaze and absolutely no warmth. These were not fresh by any stretch—they tasted like they’d been sitting out overnight or cooked in old, burnt grease. If you’ve ever had a low-budget fair funnel cake soaked in used oil, imagine that—but worse.
When I called to politely express my concern, I was stunned by how unprofessional the response was. The owner, Meechie, didn’t just dismiss my complaint—she hung up on me mid-sentence. When I called back, she doubled down, saying, “These are our donuts,” as if that somehow excused the poor quality. According to her, this is the standard they stand by—dry, greasy, overcooked donuts served with a side of rudeness.
Honestly, I’ve had better gas station pastries. There’s absolutely no excuse for this kind of product or customer service, especially first thing in the morning. I will never return, and I strongly recommend others avoid this location unless you enjoy being disrespected and served leftovers disguised...
Read moreI LOVE Shipleys. I'm from Texas and moved here years ago and was ECSTATIC when I found out they were making one locally. But I have NEVER been in here and walked out satisfied
I've been a lot since they opened. It's not like there's another one close I can go to instead. Their customer service has gotten better over the last year, but its never been amazing. I have never gone in there and been able to walk out with what I go on there for. They are ALWAYS out of half the menu, 6 hours before they close and they're out of almost everything and not planning on making more. They should really have items ready to go to refill sold out products or plan accordingly for their business. When some of your most popular products go quickly, you should be prepared to have more made. This has been the problem almost everytime I've been. And only once has it been offered for me to wait the few extra minutes to have some made, and I waited!
The food is good, a but pricey but worth it, but I'm going to have to start calling in advance to see if they have what I want because I've made multiple trips up there leaving empty handed....
Read moreMe and my daughter went to Shipley's yesterday..... Well to my surprise I visited a Shipley's in Houston over this past weekend. May I say their shipley's was outstanding and customer service was great and the donuts was hot just like I liked them. Well yesterday the shipley's on metairie road I really didnt feel comfortable going in there. They lady at the counter which was a white lady with short hair. I couldn't tell she was faking her smile. I was about to ask her is it because I'm black you dont want to wait on me. First of all the donuts holes was cold and dry and Second of all just because I'm black dont mean my money isnt good enough for you. You all should treat everyone that walks into your door with the most utterly respect. Don't treat people different just because of their skin color. I bleed the same color of blood you bleed. Also I spoke to her as well and she didnt even say anything back . Who does this . I will not come back into your store ever. But I know when I travel to Houston, Shipley's will money I refuse to go to shipley's on...
