Umi Sushi & Hibachi Grill — Restaurant in Louisiana

Yelp review 1 & 2. Thought I’d share on google as well. Good luck folks!

This place is delicious. Inside. Every time I get take out it's incorrect. This last time I ordered and paid for the hibachi filet, cooked medium and when I opened the box at home it was definitely the strip and cooked to a dang crisp. Yuck. But every time I eat inside it is delicious and correct. Service inside is slow as well but worth it because of the food!

Update: dined in. To my waitress Tram, I wait tables, I have the same job as you, this should have gone differently. I ordered the filet cooked medium with extra veggies and you brought me the strip (cooked well) with a huge side of onions. You did not once check on me after you set down the plate. When you finally came over, after I unsuccessfully got any other servers attention, you asked me if I wanted anything else. I inquired if this was the filet and you said "you didn't order the filet" which as we can so clearly see from my previous post all I order it the filet so I politely responded I ordered the filet and you again demanded I did not. You then asked if I wanted the check instead of offering a solution to my meal or any form of apologies and I said yes I would like the bill and you responded with a sad "would you like a box" to which I said something I've never said out loud in a restaurant ever, "No, it was not good" and you just simply walked away. HELLO WE ARE SERVERS IF THE CUSTOMER ISNT HAPPY IT IS YOUR JOB TO MAKE IT BETTER!! EPIC fail of customer service. Despite my continued displeasures here I STILL say this place has good food but now say you will ONLY get it if you sit at the grill, don't order take out and DONT. I repeat. DO NOT deal with the wait staff. Unfortunately I think I have paid my last...

This used to be one of my favorite eateries in Chalmette. But I started noticing a decline a while back sence they remodeled. When I went in today I noticed right off that they were playing music that doesn't appeal to me, but you can't judge on the taste of music right? Then when I was seated I noticed the once classy looking black menu's were replaced with some cheap looking laminated thing with way more pictures than words. And as I like to know what's in the foods opposed to what it looks like I would rather read. And if you are like me and blessed with the ability to read and comprehend, the few descriptions on the menu they had were so small that a person with great eyesight could barely make out the words. So I guess they want you to just point at the picture like a simpleton because its pretty. The service was a bit slow, but in her defense she had to deal with the loudmouths two tables over. That being said I will add lack of class brings trash. It wasn't always like that, but now it's like going to a full service sushi McDonalds. And also, although the food looked good and looked as if properly prepared, it had a slight off taste to it and have been crapping like a tyrannosaurus for the past 3 hours. I will not go back and I suggest anyone with any self...

Based on taste and value alone of the food I ordered, 6 stars. On the quality of the dining area, 4 stars.

The food was superb. I ordered tuna rolls, octopus sushi and some beef udon. Enough for a pretty hungry person. Everything was priced very reasonably. Now, to describe the taste... The best udon I have ever had. I don't claim to be any sort of afficionado, but I know when my food is delicious, and it most certainly was. The tuna rolls were larger than I expected for the price, and tastier. Octopus sushi was on point, as well.

As for the dining area, it was in need of a cleaning and/or remodeling. Nothing was particularly offensive, but the menus could be nicer and simpler, the surfaces could have been cleaner, the decorations could have been.... More existent. You won't be afraid for your life here at all, but you won't want to take pictures and send them to your followers or whatever. Won't get any love like that.

All in all, I came here for a good lunch, and a good lunch I most...
