Customer Beware

This incident happened a couple of days ago. My friend and I ordered chicken fried chicken with gravy substitutions. Before tax, the meal is $14.79. At no time were we told that the substitutions would cost more. Because we were going to split the bill later, I agreed to pay up front. When we received the bill, my friend noticed a stark difference in price. Their gravy was $2.99 more than the item price, while my meal was only $0.25 more. I mentioned the issue to the waitress. She agreed that the cost was more than the advertised price. I asked for that difference back. Because I had already paid, she stated she was not sure she could do that and offered to call the owner. I agreed. The owner stated that I could not have a refund of the price because the menu states that there will be an additional cost for substitutions. (I do not recall this and could not find an example online.) The owner also stated that because the white gravy is expensive to make, the cost is justified. My argument is that the owner need to state the cost of the substitutions whether it is on the menu or verbalized by the wait staff. The insult to injury is this receipt is not itemized. Unless one looks at the receipt closely, they would never know the price difference. If the price of the small amount of white gravy is worth an additional $2.99, be upfront about it. Give the customer an honest choice. Sadly, it is obvious that the customer, even a loyal one, is not a priority. Just a note: I have been going to the Parish Diner since it changed hands from Par 3. If the food were not delicious and the wait staff not good, this rating would have been lower. Even in this situation, the waitress listened to my issue and tried to find a solution. I appreciate...

Order the fried chicken breasts entree with the pineapple and ham, can't remember the name of it now. The overall dish was a good combination but they had overcooked the chicken so it was a little on the dry side.

I will say that their portion sizes are very large though for people of the Rocky and Carlos crowd LOL

Red beans and rice were just so-so. Didn't care for the taste of the sausage they use but I think it had been kept on the stove for too long It felt and tasted overcooked.

Check your bags for any takeout though. We were ordering for pickup/takeout and ordered everything by phone. The order taker read everything back correctly when placed, but when we came to pick up she had not included one of our side dishes. To be fair they weren't charging us for it, but for takeout it's very disappointing to go all the way home only to find that something that you wanted for a member of your party isn't in your bag. Fortunately, the person in our group who picked up the order went through everything before they left and had them prepare the extra side order of french fries so we didn't have to go back. But just as a warning, whoever takes the order by phone and then prepare is it once you get there for pickup or not maybe checking the original order or taking it down correctly, I don't know which - Just word to the wise, check your orders for take out before you leave the premises to make sure...

I got to the diner around 11:10 a.m with my wife and 2 kids. It took about 7 minutes to get a drink order and food order. Then 5 minutes later we got our drinks. Then a family of 5 came into the diner around 11:23. They ordered their food and received it around 11:35, while we were still waiting. I ordered a banana for my 1 year old but since it was taking so long I asked to get it earlier to prevent him from whining. I had to ask twice before getting the banana. Never once did our waitress come and ask us if we needed a refill. Around 11:43 we received our food. My wife ordered my son bacon and they came out with ham. My 9 year old politely informed our waitress that he ordered bacon and then the waitress began to argue with my 9 year old!! The waitress then began to discuss this with another waitress complaining about how we ordered bacon instead of ham. The waitress then started to argue with the cooks. We finished eating around 11:58 p.m. and then paid and left. We were at the diner for about and hour and never got asked for a refill. The food was good but the owner has done a poor job on the standards he set for his staff. The owner needs to get in there and train the staff on how to handle customers and not create a toxic work environment. I feel bad for the cooks who have to deal with our waitress. This was on 12/27/2023. Get a hold of your...

This diner used to be excellent. However, in the last few months, it has gone horribly downhill. The prices are higher for less food, and the cooks can't be bothered to read a ticket. Why read it when you can just make it wrong! Today, I went in and ordered a French fry po-boy and a shrimp po-boy. I got home and put it in the oven until we were ready to eat. When I later unwrapped the sandwiches, they were both French fry po-boys, and neither one had gravy. However, one of them was dressed exactly like the shrimp should have been, had it actually been made. Also, there were hardly any fries on either sandwich, and the lettuce was off color. I checked the ticket, and I was charged for the shrimp. I attempted to call regarding the issues, and even though it was only 2:20 in the afternoon, the phone just rang and rang. I am so upset that I wasted money on such a disappointing takeout meal.

The two star review is mostly based on value. Still needs to be mentioned that service was at a minimum, felt like only regulars got good service. All I ordered was eggs and toast. Toast was toast, and eggs were edible, but like typical low-end diners, the eggs were dry and rubbery. The worst part, which kept this from being a three star (I expect diner food to be diner food), was the fact that for $2.50 worth of food on my plate I was charged over $12. Same order with even more food (hash browns) at Waffle House (equal quality) is $5 cheaper. At least the food came out quick.
