Back Deck BBQ — Restaurant in Louisville

Was so excited to try this place. Have heard great things on fb when people asked where to get best bbq. It is definitely NOT that. We came about 630. They were out of every side they offer but baked beans, green beans, slaw and yams. No fries! Wanted burnt ends. They were not ready and wouldn’t be til tomorrow. Out of ribs. Ended up getting smoked turkey and husband got pulled pork. We got baked beans and green beans. We asked what drinks they had. They were out of all except bottled water. We paid for a meal only to be served bottled water. When the meal came the smoked turkey was ok. Nothing to scream about. Pulled pork was cold and had an off taste to it. The baked beans were not bad. The green beans looked like they came from a can and was seasoned with salt and pepper. Looked nothing like the pictures at all. It was overpriced for what we got. Now let’s get to the atmosphere. The place is absolutely filthy. We had to wipe down the table and even then the taped down table clothes were sticky. There were flies and gnats everywhere where. Felt like we were sitting outside swatting them away. The floors were torn up in places and looked filthy. There was a vacuum cleaner sitting off to the side. Who want to eat looking at that thinking they need a mop instead. We could see into the kitchen and it looked less than stellar. Went to bathroom and wanted turn around and leave. Nasty. Once we got home my husbands stomach started hurting and he got sick. Was sick for two days. We won’t be coming back. It need a Complete facelift. Oh and the music was way too loud. Couldn’t talk to each other. Several people came in while we were there and walked out after seeing the atmosphere and how dirty it was and several others walked out because out of so much. Who is out of drinks by 630....

I've been a fan of this place since it was operating in a food truck years ago, and thought it was time to leave a review from my recent visit. In all the time from then until today, the product has only improved with an increased amount of tools and resources available to the team at Back Deck BBQ. The burnt ends are easily the best in Louisville, after trying many competitors and the wings are like nothing you have had before - a sticky wing, seasoned with the help of a little brown sugar, smoked perfectly. Needless to say, the brisket has the bark you would be looking for in that cut and you're overly satisfied with every slice. If you like ribs or pulled pork, you're in luck. The ribs glisten and remains tender out of the smoker - see a picture on social media and you'll fall in love before your 1st bite. The pulled pork retains it's juice and is not salty at all like you might find with some places. With that said, there are options for meat plate combos, a la carte ordering, and sandwiches. Prices are very fair too and portions are on point. We love every side, having tried them all, but we tend to love the Mac and cheese, yams, and green beans the most. Can't go wrong with any of the other options too. This is the kind of place where you can leave sauce off your plate and enjoy everything you have, or you can go that route if you want. Please, please make Back Deck BBQ one of your go-to option for BBQ if you're a local and if your a visitor, don't waste your time trying somewhere else with the limited time you have, if BBQ is important enough to you to make it a priority while you're here. Especially if you're on the bourbon trail and want that to fill your meat craving portion...

I really don't understand how this place gets any good reviews! We went on a Wednesday night at about 6:00. All they had left was wings, ribs and pulled pork. Not even any fries? Who couldn't throw some fries in the fryer? With the event going on in Iroquis Park across the street, you'd think they'd have smoked extra meats in prep for a higher volume of customers. But the thing that disgusted us the most was how filthy the place is. Really quite unbelievable! If you're going to offer indoor dining, at least clean the place! From the ceiling to the floor, the tables and chairs...everything is disgusting. Dust literally hanging from the ceiling. Flooring coming up everywhere. Ripped tablecloths. Dirty tables. Air vents with no covers on them. I didn't dare go into the bathroom for fear of what it was like. This place needs some major cleaning and overhaul. We debated walking out but due to time factor we decided to stay and try the food. Bad decision. My ribs were barely edible. The mac & cheese was like mashed mac& cheese. The beans and cole slaw were ok. I paid $17 for a lunch portion of ribs with a side of beans. 4 ribs. The portions are small. Not a good value for the money. The young man and the lady working there were very polite. My sons-in-law smoke meat much better than whoever is doing it here. It was a beautiful evening and if anyone had wanted to sit outside they wouldn't be able to because the very few hightops that were outside were also filthy and the outside area is so uninviting. Needless to say, we'll never go back. Note to owner...please take more pride in your establishment and its better if you operate as a...
