I had Bob Evans for the very first time today, at my fiancee's frequent suggestion. I thought the prices were a bit high for what I had been told was old fashioned southern breakfast food, but I thought it must be worth it if a single breakfast meal is over $10. I was sorely mistaken. The only aspect of our breakfast today that was even in the same ball park as "acceptable" is the speed with which our food was prepared. In hindsight, I would have preferred to wait longer for a better meal.
For starters, when I walked in through the carry-out door, I was greeted with a crowd of about 20 people standing in the entryway, waiting for someone to attend to them. I was taken care of relatively quickly, for which I was grateful. The drive home was a short one, as we live roughly a quarter of a mile from the Bob Evans location in question. We got home and immediately began taking our food out of the bag, my fiancee excited for her breakfast and excited for me to try Bob Evans for the first time.
There were no utensils included with our order. I figured that's alright, not a big deal. We ordered for pickup so it's assumed we're taking the food somewhere with utensils. As I go to get my utensils to eat my pancakes, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, and turkey sausage links, my fiancee informs me that not only did they not include syrup with my hotcakes, they also neglected to put butter in with the order as well. She handed me my container with my sides in it, and to my growing disappointment, there was an amount of hashbrowns and scrambled eggs that can only be described as "abysmal".
"It's just up the street, less than a 2 minute drive. I'll run up there and get butter and syrup, and grab another order of hashbrowns as well." I left our apartment and arrived at Bob Evans by 12:15pm. At 12:20pm, I had just been waited on and provided butter and syrup, and had paid for a single order of hashbrowns. A full 20 minutes after I had paid $2.85 plus a 15% tip for a single order of hashbrowns, and after having to get the attention of an employee to ask for the status of my single order of hashbrowns, I was finally provided with the (I cannot stress this enough) single order of hashbrowns I paid an additional $3.28 after tip and tax for despite the fact that I should have gotten a reasonable amount with my order to begin with. I walked past a woman waiting for her order who had been there when I walked in the first time. I headed home, knowing that even with a

So this evening I had an issue with the item I wanted to order for delivery on the app. The app would not let me complete my order and kept telling me the item was unavailable. I called and spoke to the manager Russell who was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! Russell informed me that the item was infact available and disnt know why the app wouldn't let me order. He went above and beyond to ensure that I got the item I wanted. I ordered a different item on the app while he stood by. Then he personally took my order and placed it in the kitchen for the item I wanted. This was an extremely confusing process and was a bunch of extra work for Russell but he had no problem completing this task for me. He handled the situation with exceptional customer service, courtesy and professionalism. Russell is an excellent manager. I haven't received my order yet and really hope everything is correct, but I am very confident that Russell will take care of it for me.
REVISING MY REVIEW!!! I previously gave a 5 star review which I am changing now because of a few incidents I have had recently. Before I never had and issue with any of my delivery orders for almost 2 years. The past 4 times I have ordered however have not been so great. I've had to call for a refund due to my online order taking 4 hours. I have had to call to request a partial refund on a almost $75 order which had items missing and items fixed incorrectly. Today I placed an order and specified NO PORK as I always do because I am allergic. My vegetarian omelet came with tiny bacon pieces in it and I had to throw the whole meal away after taking one bite and realizing it. I didn't bother to call this time because I am slowly getting fed up with the incompetence of the staff. I average roughly $300 monthly on Bob Evans because of my husband's and my busy work schedule and the fact that they're food is pretty good. I'm slowly beginning to reconsider ordering from them all together. Today was a game changer. Had I not noticed the pork the first bite and continued to eat I would be dead right now. Management needs to stress to their kitchen how vital it is to follow instructions. Your cooks have people's lives in their hands!!! The only reason I am giving a 2 star review is because the food which they did not mess up was still good according to my husband. But I do not take mistakes like this likely and it will take some SERIOUS changes from Bob Evans for me to continue being their LOYAL customer and to consider changing my review again!
ORIGINAL REVIEW I absolutely love this restaurant. They have a great menu and are one of the few breakfast places that offer kosher breakfast meats. Their prices are very reasonable considering the quality of food and the amount you get. I also love the family meals they offer. Their cookies and banana bread are to die for. I order deliver from them often and this is the only resteraunt I've ever ordered from that consistently gets my order right every time! Never missing items and they're always prepared just the...
Read moreFirst time visiting Saturday Dec 16th, 2018 and not a great experience at all, except for our nice waitress who was the ONLY one with service professionalism. Not even the Manager Guy was courteous when paying our bill, took receipt and just waited for me to do the rest. No, "How was everything?" "How was your meal?" I think his name was Mark, who basically just stood there with a mean face, watching all employees and not "rolling up his sleeves" to even help or be "courteous" at least.
We, a party of "2", arrived and not many others in the waiting area and we were told by the Hostess Lady, "about 30 mins". We said, ok and just sat down.
There was a group of "12" people that arrived and asked to get their name listed, again, the Hostess said without looking at the dining area, "30 to 40 minutes". That Large group left and she didn't even flinch.
A "man" walks in and in a party of 2 presumably, wants to know how long is the wait, the hostess lady says this time, "Shouldn't be long".....
All 3 above were within 5 to 10 mins....
We got seated and directly across us to our left, we see the hosted lady, scramble with some agitation, to rearrange to tables and put them together for a family of 8 I believe.
The weird part was, she was agitated and roughly pulled the tables around and the jelly holder fell to the "ground" and she then grabbed them, dumped them somehow to fit, not like they are normally scene at a table (organized). The family sat down and one person started organizing them and looked puzzled while fixing.
A gentleman who works (busboy) there was near the "just emptied" table and the "Hostess Lady" yelled at him, which was odd and likely uncalled for and the gentleman, knew he was in a public setting and displayed professionalism vs the hostess yelling at him. The busboy was a man of color and the hostess lady was white.
Overall experience Twilight Zone. We will never want to return to this location. It is not something others would like to experience.
Now the BOB EVANS Near TINSELTOWN IS THE BEST. They should come over and train the Manager on down to each staff member.
I never complain, but wow. I need to share with others for awareness.
Maybe the OWNER or representative of this franchise will reply or look...
