This was my second time coming to this location. I came today because the service the first time was so friendly. I love the setup. The barista, I cannot remember her name, was extremely rude. I understand that it was a busy day and I was more than patient when it took a while for my drink to be made. I order the drink for dine in and it came in a togo cup. When I was called to the front, I couldn't find my drink because I was expecting it to be in a coffee cup, not a togo cup. I didn't want to assume and take someone else's drink. When I asked her for my drink, she realized that it was supposed to be for dine in. She became extremely angry, began to slam drawers around until she found the cup. She then poured my drink over the counter and instead of apologizing, she looked at her coworker and said "I can't". The male barista didn't apologize either (which I didn't expect him to). He did offer to remake my spilled drink but it was busy and with him being left to handle the customers, I felt bad about having him remake it so I told him no. She walked to the backed and left him there in the middle of a rush. I will probably not be back to this shop again, mainly because the display was completely embarrassing to be apart of, especially in a room full of customers. I don't appreciate being treated in such manner....
Read moreWent in this afternoon to grab a snack, and there was a man hanging out by the counter - sitting on a stool in the middle of the shop, talking out loud at the top of his voice. I thought at first he was someone experiencing homelessness who they’d let hang out for a bit, or part of some sort of employment outreach program. Either of those would’ve been fine, but nope - he was the owner of the coffee shop.
I am completely serious when I say have never had a coffee shop visit be more negatively impacted by a single person before. He was running his mouth non-stop about how successful his shop is, how fancy the coffee is, how much he’s travelled, how the shop is a “European coffee shop” (I lived in France for 14+ years; Fante coffee is not a European coffee shop). He was shouting out to people randomly as they walked in, talking so loud you couldn’t hear the barista, and blocking the flow of traffic to and from the counter. Overall the most unpleasant, arrogant caricature of a small-business owner you can imagine.
I cannot imagine how annoying it is to be a worker there when Leo Fante visits. Massive solidarity with the baristas & workers at this place, bc I bet they aren’t paid enough to deal with that. I tipped 25% on my order and probably won’t be supporting this man’s shop...
Read moreI just visited this coffee shop today and overall I was not impressed. I saw the pictures online and thought this would be a nice place to study. The interior was nicely decorated and had plenty of space to study, but the atmosphere was not pleasant. My friend and I were not greeted when we walked in even though I made eye contact with the barista. It was very quiet and awkward. The barista was standoffish and barely said three words when I was asking her about blended drinks. I was trying to be friendly to her, but it was clear that she did not want to be there. We went to the large room in the back to study. There was ample seating and plugs which was nice. I ordered a blended mocha frappe. I was hoping that the coffee would make up for the weird atmosphere, but I was disappointed. It was way too liquidy for a blended drink. It was like drinking iced coffee with some occasional ice shards that would get stuck in my straw. We stayed for about thirty minutes and then left to go to another coffee shop where I'm currently writing this review.
I think this place has a lot of potential to be great and I'm willing to believe that my experience could've just been a fluke. I can't say that I would want to return anytime...
