An Unforgettable Anniversary at Le Moo Steakhouse I recently celebrated my 17th anniversary with my lover at Le Moo Steakhouse, and the evening was nothing short of spectacular. We had made a reservation through OpenTable, mentioning our special occasion, and the restaurant truly went above and beyond to make our night memorable. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm "Happy Anniversary!" and a complimentary glass of champagne to start the celebration. This small, personal touch set a wonderful tone for the rest of the evening, making us feel genuinely valued. A Culinary Journey of Exquisite Flavors We began our meal with two of their standout appetizers: the famous Le Moo spinach queso and the classic wedge salad. The queso was incredibly creamy and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the crispy, homemade tortilla chips. The wedge salad was equally impressive, featuring a delightful blue cheese dressing that was rich and tangy without being overpowering. For our main courses, we were absolutely blown away. I chose the cowboy cut ribeye with a Pittsburgh char and a medium-rare temperature, topped with garlic butter. The steak was cooked to absolute perfection—tender, juicy, and with a beautiful crust. I paired it with the onion rings, which were taken to an "Olympic level" by the incredible Alabama white sauce that accompanied them. This was, without a doubt, the best steak I've had in all of Louisville. My lover opted for the pork chop and grit cakes, a fantastic choice. The pork chop was tender and succulent, and the glaze sauce on top tied all the flavors together beautifully. The grit cakes were a unique and delicious accompaniment, making for a truly satisfying and memorable dish. The Sweetest Ending Just when we thought the night couldn't get any better, the restaurant surprised us with a special anniversary dessert: a complimentary berries and white chocolate mousse cream. It was a light, elegant, and perfectly sweet finale to our meal. Of course, we couldn't resist trying one more dessert from their menu: the pecan cheesecake. This dessert was a revelation. It was so good, in fact, that I would happily return to Le Moo just for the cheesecake alone. The rich, creamy texture and nutty pecan flavor were truly exceptional. Final Thoughts Le Moo Steakhouse did everything right on this special night. From the warm welcome and thoughtful touches to the incredible food and impeccable service, the entire experience was flawless. It’s clear they take pride in their craft and genuinely care about their guests' experience. I highly recommend Le Moo for any special occasion or a night out where you want to indulge in some of the best food Louisville...
Read moreI struggle with this review as so much of the evening went well. The service was attentive, consistent and well-timed. The atmosphere was great and our party of 13 had a good time celebrating three birthdays. Where it failed was on some of the food.
While most everyone's food was great, my wife and my experiences were less than acceptable. She ordered the filet trio and ordered it medium rare minus and I ordered a ribeye medium rare. The server even handed us a picture card to confirm our selection and it was all good...until the food came. Her first Trio was medium + at best and tasted like it had been under a heat lamp for too long (grainy meat texture). My ribeye was way overcooked - mostly medium well with some parts medium plus. I understand this can happen and when the server noticed it, he quickly offered to replace both orders. When they returned, my wife's Trio was good, but mine was almost identical - medium well to medium plus at best. Even though the restaurant offered to take the meals off the bill, it still didn't change the fact I never received what I ordered and ate almost nothing.
The funny thing was three others in our party ordered the exact same ribeye and their steaks were perfect. We did notice that my ribeye was at least 1/2 inch thinner than the others so we all hypothesized that they cooked all the steaks the same way for the same amount of time with the thicker steaks coming out perfectly medium rare while the thinner steak was medium plus to medium well. Now the sad part - the did the exact same thing again - thin steak, overcooked. The definition of insanity...
Hoping to rally with dessert, I ordered their bread pudding (my favorite dessert). Imagine my total shock when what came out was a cold "brick" of something with ice cream on top. I had to actually chisel off a piece as it was literally as hard as a rock. Others tried it, and after more chiseling, the consensus was cold, stale and inedible.
At that point, I only wanted my bill and to leave. Still boggles my mind that they cooked the second steak exactly the same as the first after knowing what they did. And there was no excuse for the...
Read moreA great experience overall. Drinks were good and reasonably priced. Large selection of Bourbons available.
My friend ordered the $235 10oz. Miyazaki Wagyu steak and I ordered a $70 16oz. Dry aged New York Strip steak. I was more impressed with my steak than I was my friend's. I had a bite of his, it was delicious, but so was mine. I'm certainly no steak connoisseur, but I was thoroughly impressed by how well both of them were cooked.
I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because I was quite underwhelmed by our seating. It appeared they were a bit understaffed, and our 2 top was seated in a small booth by the bar. While I understand normally a two top is not always going to get the best of tables when you have a price list on steaks as they do, I would have expected better seating. Our 2 Top spent over $400.
Our server was top-notch. Very professional very quick and and served our table very very well.
When you order the $235 10oz Miyazaki Wagyu Steak, it comes with a bit of an experience. The chef comes out to your table and brings up two sheets of paper. One shows the certificate of authenticity on the beef. And one shows a bunch of ratings and lineage information of the cow that it came from. It even has a snout print from the cow on the sheet (a bit overkill if you ask me, but we laughed).
The sides were fantastic.
My $70 16 Oz dry aged New York Strip was amazing. I had the blue cheese crust and was thoroughly impressed with the preparation and flavors. In my opinion, I would pick this every time.
We wrapped up the meal with coffee. As you would expect in any fine dining restaurant coffee came in a French press carafe. It was a great blend coffee, really impressed with its quality!
I only have two regrets with this dining experience, one regret was that we weren't seated properly and I should have asked for better seating considering we knew how much we were about to spend. And a second regret is that we didn't have enough room left to eat dessert. I really wish I would have tried their desserts as I am sure they would have been impressive.
All in all, a great...
