This place is centrally located in up an coming Germantown neighborhood, a popular neighborhood for young people with fun energy. The front bar is really cool with patio garage door can be opened to create an open space feel. There are a lot of draft beer variety with a few seasonal drafts. The food has a mix of appetizers, burgers, tacos, and sandwiches with which seem to be reasonably priced. I had banging shrimp tacos and a German draft beer. I thought the banging shrimp tacos tasted very good and the beer was excellent. There were a fun vibe at the place from customers and the bingo game in the back room, but not from two unfriendly female bartenders. The bartenders were quick and efficient, able to clear lines quickly, but neither friendly nor smiling to any customer. There is also a big outdoor area. A big draw back of this place is you have to open a tap, order food/drink at the bar yourself, pick up food at an indoor “food truck” yourself, get water yourself, when it comes time to pay and close the tap, walk to the bar and settle the bill and gues what the default tipping percentages on their counter register? 20%, 25%, and 30%!!! I think it’s reasonable to tip 20% for full table service, but when you have to wait in line at a bar to order your own food, pick up your own food, refill your own water, wait in line again to pay at the bar, customers should not be expected to tip starting at 20% and...
Read moreI had previously given Hauck's 5 stars because the place is kind of cool, my kids like going there, food is ok. I had to change my review to 1 star due to an incident this morning involving the owner of Hauck's and my good friend, who lives behind the restaurant. As my friend was leaving her house for work, her car was parked in her driveway, and a truck that she didn't recognize was parked in front of it and blocking her car in. So she started honking her horn because she didn't know whose truck it was and then Fred (the owner)came running up to her screaming and cussing and used the C word (a neighbor was outside and heard all of it and publicly posted that he did say those things). I think it is unconscionable to use that kind of language anywhere, but especially if you are a neighborhood restaurant owner dealing with your neighbors. Fred needs to publicly apologize for his behavior and even if he did that, I wouldn't set foot in his business again, including his new restaurant Crazy Chicken. This guy needs an...
Read moreWas in town and exited to visit this new restaurant. I was a frequent customer at Haucks when it was a store. I was very excited about visiting. We arrived late Friday around 8. It was very busy but we got 2 chairs at the bar. We couldn't get service from the bartenders there were 3. They seemed to give walk-up customers more service than people sitting at the bar. After 20 min, we were able to get someone to take our food order. He was extremely rude. I asked about the special and got a lecture. Saying they only do special during the day would have been enough. They did a great job on the decorations and restoration. The back patio was awesome. If you want a restaurant this isn't it. I may try again on my next visit to Louisville, but I go for lunch. We ordered the deviled eggs. They were very dry and seemed old. I had the bologna sandwich, no egg. The bread was soggy, but the pimento cheese was tasty, and the bologna was a nice thick cut. Overall, it was not a good...
