(As a telecommuter). Great decor, but tables and bar aren't good for long-term work. Vint is continuing Java Brewing Co's schizophrenic attempt to be both a wine bar and a coffeeshop; I have never seen someone buy wine there (evenings may be different). Wifi is fast (60 ms pings to home office typically) and free for the moment after a Term & Conditions click-thru. Manager says they will be moving to a "redemption code" system (ie, you have to buy a drink every few hours to stay online) which will end my patronage (It's a PITA, and no one else in town makes you do that; La Vida Java tried it and successfuly drove away those pesky long-term customers.)
Great outdoor patio with viney ceiling, great in the spring and fall. Perhaps a bit too close to busy Frankfort ave to be really relaxing. Also, I hope you like freight trains.
Coffee's OK.
Espresso drinks excellent.
Food selection OK - hummus plate is recommended. They have the same greasy, bready Lotsa Pasta paninis that everyone else does; I avoid them. Scones, muffins, bagels...
Read moreVint has a surprising array of coffee, beer, and wine beverages that sets it apart from any other coffee shop in the city. The environment can be cozy or studious depending on where you sit in the cafe and the baristas are always very nice. It offers outside seating that is really nice and, in the winters, the seats next to the fireplace are one of my favorite places. And if you're in a rush, you can go through the drive-through and get your drink from the comfort of your car. On the negative side, parking is a nightmare (like most places on Frankfort Ave) and the quality of drinks can vary depending on the day or the barista. I don't generally enjoy their coffee but I think that has more to do with the rundown equipment and the range of skills from person to person. I think the place would benefit greatly from its owners investing more into is employees and its equipment instead of expanding into every neighborhood of the city. All in all, Vint is a nice place to meet people/study and get your caffeine...
Read moreBarista straight up charged me a 50% tip without asking. I ordered a large tea latte from here through the drive thru, with oat milk and vanilla syrup. The barista took my card and swiped for me and told me the total was $8.90. I asked her afterwards why it was so expensive, and she told me it must have been the syrup and oat milk. I thought that was insanely priced but figured she may have automatically chosen the highest tip which I was fine with even though a bit sketchy. UNTIL I ordered the exact same drink with all add ins next time and the total online was $6.10. This means she selected for herself a 50% tip without asking. Absolutely insane and honestly illegal. I will never be going back here. It was more frustrating that she lied directly to my face when I asked why it was so expensive, saying she checked and that it was the syrups and...
