Several people from Louisville have been going to these type Mexican restaurants for years. It's been fun, we get a buzz and the food is usually good. Over the past several years, as with many other restaurant categories, the prices have increased.
Limon y Sal is full of nice people, some that have moved on to work somewhere else and some are there now. Management is actually very competent and smart - aka they makin' money. For that, salute!
The issue now has become this restaurant has priced itself out of its own category. I ordered a "grande" skinny margarita today. The marg that used to be to potent for the average Gringo has now been diluted down to a refreshing juice drink - for $17.50.
I politely say, (tipped 25%) to the bartender can i get some more tequila in this?? why yes - for exactly a 1.5oz pour and $9 you may. That coupled with a good chimichurri appetizer at $19 for probably less than 3 oz of the same grade meat we've all come to know and love from these places, I was set back at the bill.
I walked with tip - 2 margs, one to-go and an app for $100.These guys have lost sight of their category and place in the culinary scene.
Not that Ruth's Chris is good or bad but during same time slot at the bar, I can get a Prime filet sandwich and same volume of libations with tip for $70 - this comment is only meant to draw more attention to my actual point.
I live part-time in Tampa FL - I have soooo many better options in a larger city in same category for HALF the price. I don't understand how this is what the Mexican food scene has become...
Read moreThis was the worst service I have had in years. The hostess with the Jack Skellington tattoo was incredibly rude. She had a terrible attitude and sat us at the table closest to the front door. There were TONS of other tables open but she decided to put us at the worst table after making it clear to us they don’t take reservations on Fridays, so that wasn’t the issue. Guests had to crowd around our table to talk to the hostesses. Other guests literally were leaning against and sitting on the edge of our table. The door kept opening and blowing cold air on our backs. The server did not introduce himself and didn’t refill our waters once. The Mole Enchiladas were inedible. It was the worst mole sauce I have had in my entire life, and I love mole. It was bitter and burnt. The manager was kind enough to comp the mole enchiladas off the ticket, so I will give them that. They also charge $10 for queso that you could get at Kroger. The bathrooms were also not super clean. It was just all around super...
Read moreThe food was good except the chicken tinga chimichanga. The chicken was dry and flavorless. They don’t really respect or acknowledge their Spanish customers. We were the only Spanish customers there and we were sat in the corner out of view from everyone in the dark where the employees sit on their break by the bathrooms. There were white customers that came after us and were sit in the middle of the restaurant by the windows where there was light. We were isolated and hidden from everyone and felt forgotten. Not sure we will be back to get the...
