On a recent trip to the Louisville Zoo we decided to stop in to Maya Bagel Express before heading to our destination. We'd been by it a number of times and thought it was about time we try it.
Maya Bagel Express is an order-at-the-counter, we'll-call-your-order-number-when-it's-ready kind of place. We took a few minutes to look over the menu and then ordered. While the menu isn't extensive, it has enough to handle your breakfast or lunch needs. My wife had a breakfast sandwich and I ordered the Roast Beef.
Maya Bagel Express doesn't have a soft drink fountain but does have a very large cooler of beverages for you to chose from. Bottled water, soft drinks, energy drinks, and fruit drinks are all available.
There are about a dozen tables and high-tops for dining in, as well as a few umbrella-covered tables outside. Our visit was on Memorial Day and we got lucky that the weather was amazing.
The gentleman at the counter took our order and answered any question we had easily, and we had a few because it was our first visit. He helped with a recommendation and we very pleasant.
Food delivery took less than ten minutes and our orders accurate and tasty. My wife's breakfast sandwich was HOT, so it had to sit for a minute. My roast beef sandwich wasn't heated, so I dug right in. My sandwich was REALLY good. I've come to appreciate the fact that Boar's Head meats, while a little pricier, are well worth the extra you pay for them. My only suggestion for the roast beef sandwich would be adding fresh onion and maybe some horseradish...but that's me.
The restaurant was clean when we arrived and we saw someone come out to clean a couple tables while we were there.
Our first visit to Maya Bagel Express was 100% awesome...and now we have a lunch destination before heading to the Zoo. While I'm kind of bummed that this is the only location, sometimes locally owned businesses shine well enough...
Read moreI've ordered from here on doordash over ten times. I am a loyal customer. This time, I called because I tried to explain to the owner (whose English was unclear) that I would like to request honey mustard on the side with the order. He told me I did not ask for it when I ordered. I am aware and that is why I was calling. I finally was told the order already left. That's fine. The problem is that I was told not to order from here again if I'm rude which I was not. I was actually in a good mood and nice but the owner did not understand me clearly and got rude with me. I even explained I was a loyal customer. I was even ordering for someone new as I explained how good this place was in addition to placing my own order. It is my last time. And that's unfortunate. I tried to clarify with the owner because it's just a simple misunderstanding but he kept telling me not to order again. Okay then. The thing is that attitude matters. Customer service matters and if the owner is going to treat loyal, nice customers this way when they are just confused by his accent and what he's saying and trying to work with him and clarify a situation, he will continue to lose customers. I've seen it happen before even to the best restaurants when they treat customers badly. Oh well. Their loss because it is my last order. And this place is pretty expensive just for a bagel and some eggs but I loved how fresh it is. There are...
Read moreVery poor service this am. I have gone to this business multiple times since they opened and was generally pleased. I ordered a bagel sandwich this am and received the wrong order. I called and the older son who I’ve seen multiple times interacted with me on the phone. He was unapologetic, cocky, and rude. He said things happen…and ultimately, that I could come and have a chit chat about the problem. He essentially hung up on me. Not quick to say, they’d fix it. Disgusted me. He was rude when I came in. There were no customers in the store (was busy when I went 1.5 hours before). I told him that I didn’t appreciate how he interacted with me on the phone. Customer service skills were just bad! He told me to go to Burger King or somewhere and not come back in the end. How dare he. Won’t ever go back. When they added potatoes to the menu, I got them a couple times. The last time, they were horrible; not well cooked (done); tasted one and threw them away. I did not call to complain. The audacity for him to behave like that with a customer. That cocky attitude will lose other customers if he continues to display it. I have gone in there enough to know who his mother, father, and younger brother are. Lost one customer for sure! *Ordered turkey, bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel and got what appeared to be ham or pastrami; no...
