I tried Old New York Pizza tonight. I ordered one cheese pizza $16.04, one Whitestone $17.95 and one make your own with an assortment of four toppings $21.67. I ordered from their web site which was slightly antiquated and took a bit of time. I set up an account in hopes I had found a great new pizza discovery. They have no delivery unfortunately, so I selected carry out. I tipped on the app and it said to pick up the pizza in 60 minutes. I went there in 40 wanting to make sure my pizza was hot and fresh. Upon entering the dining room, there was a mountain of folded in a boxed sitting on the table in the foyer. I thought that seemed a little strange that anyone could have access to touching any of these boxes or coughing or whatever. There were at least 100 of them sitting there. The person at the register asked my name and then walked around the counter to a delivery bag sitting on another fold up table. My order was already made and sitting in the bag despite arriving 20 minutes sooner. I also ordered a large Greek salad to share. When I got home 10 minutes away, I opened all boxes for our group to eat. I noticed the pizza was slightly cold already. There was definitely no oozy cheese anywhere. It was too cold and very flat. The pizza was missing any kind of salt or basil which might give it some flavor. I realized they did not ask me if I’d like Parmesan or red pepper. My bad. I wished I had gotten some to add to the flavor. The Whitestone though was unlike any white pizza I’ve ever had. It was supposed to have a ricotta spread, herbs, Romano cheese and garlic oil. It literally was tasteless, an inedible pizza truly. The universal feeling Of anyone who tried it was it was just bad. I rarely will call on pizza but I thought the owner would like to know if a pizza came out that dry and tasteless. Boy, I was in for a surprise. I spoke to the person answering the phone who passed along the phone to an older man. I explained the pizza’s dryness. He said “that is how it is made. He said you dont like it, that is your fault. You dont get nothing. This is how it is made.” Not only is this called Old New York Style pizza. It is a rude New York style attitude. He can take his dried up, card board pizza and stick it. I would never walk foot into this ridiculous establishment with this mean old owner. I wish I could have taken my $10 tip back from someone who certainly did not deserve it. For $80 plus dollars, you can certainly find...
Read moreCalled and ordered two pizza’s for take out. I showed up and they had only made one pizza. I told them the order was wrong, there were two pizza’s. The guy behind the counter said they only had one pizza. I asked if it was $47.40 for one pizza. Then the guy looked it up and said there were two pizzas with “extra enchilada sauce”. I said no, I ordered two pizzas, both with extra sauce because he did not have “enchilada sauce”. He apologized and said he could make me another pizza but it would be 10-15 minutes. I told him, no, he could make me two, both with extra sauce, or I would never order pizza there again. I wanted to have the two fresh pizza’s, with the extra sauce that I ordered and paid for.
To my chagrin, I got home and found the one pizza was the original. It was cold, tasted like cardboard. I am not sure how much the one pizza cost them but I guarantee it will cost them more than the one pizza they did not make fresh for me.
Also, I am not sure if anyone has ever heard of a “Net-Promoter” at Old School NY, but someone there should look it up if they do not know. I will tell every single person who ever asks about my experience and tell them to order from somewhere else. I promise you will lose money for not making this right. It is the principle of the matter. Maybe I am old and cranky, but I like my food fresh and hot. Also, the place I work, orders food for the employees two days a week and our office is less than a mile away from Old School. We spend more than $1000.00 per month on delivery. Guess where I will make sure we never order from?
And yes, ownership, if you want to make it right, feel free to contact me. Your employees are costing you business. If you don’t care,...
Read moreTheir pizza? Legendary. I'm talking about crust so crispy, it could rival the sound of a touchdown at a football game. The taste? Well, it's the kind that makes you close your eyes and momentarily transport yourself to the heart of New York City. Each bite was like taking a stroll through Little Italy, with flavors that danced a perfect tango on my taste buds.
But let's talk about the undercarriage, because that's where the magic happens, my friends. The crust was cooked to absolute perfection, with just the right balance of chewiness and crispiness. It had that golden-brown color that could make even the sun jealous. And let's not forget about the char marks, those beautiful blackened spots that added a whole new level of flavor to the pizza party in my mouth.
Not only does Old School NY Pizza crush it when it comes to taste and texture, but the whole experience feels like a slice of nostalgia. From the cozy atmosphere to the friendly staff, it's like stepping into a Brooklyn pizza joint minus the long flight and traffic.
So whether you're a bona fide pizza aficionado or just someone who appreciates a damn good slice, make your way to Old School NY Pizza in Louisville. This place is a hidden gem that deserves to be shouted from the rooftops. Trust me, once you sink your teeth into one of their mouthwatering pizzas, you'll never want to go back to your ordinary, run-of-the-mill slices. Old School NY Pizza, you guys are...
