My wife and I ate here for the first time Saturday night at 7 pm 10/7/17. It was absolutely FANTASTIC. We had reservations and were seated immediately.
We had a bottle of Cabernet and the rice balls as an appetizer. The wine was great, as were the rice balls.
I had the seafood linguine diavolo (spicy) and my wife had the baked ziti. The seafood linguine was a kick back to my childhood with a DELICIOUS spicy red sauce. It was loaded with mussels, scallops, and shrimp over a bed of linguine. It was served with bread to soak up the delicious sauce. I rarely order this dish anywhere but at my parent's kitchen table because it was my father's specialty. He is hard to beat, but I am telling you that this was just as good. This was easily enough for 2 full meals.
My wife's ziti was another home run. The perfect ratio of cheese, pasta, and homemade sauce . . . this ziti was the best I have had. To top it off, he mixes quality Italian sausage in with the dish that puts it over the top. There was easily enough food for two full size meals.
For dessert i highly recommend the coconut cake. It is a family recipe and was delicious. It reminded me a lot of a Carrot cake. It was a little pricey for two (at $15), but it is really a dessert for 2-4. It was out of this world, and fed my wife and i for two nights.
Enough about the food, and on to the service. It was fantastic, we spoke with the owner Bill as he came around table to table checking on customers, introducing himself, and offering suggestions. He is a fantastic host and made everyone feel welcome. Our server was also fantastic, and was on point with everything that was needed.
All in all, it was a fantastic night. I will tell anyone and everyone about this place and I can't wait to be back. This is my favorite kind of restaurant: quaint, family run,...
Read moreWe went to Silvio's for my birthday. We researched the reviews, saw very good reviews, I knew the Melillo name was well know in the restaurant venue, so we decided to go there to celebrate my birthday. I was so looking forward to going, so sadly disappointed! The bread that they brought to the table was cold and served with cold butter. Most FINE dining Italian restaurants serve warm fresh bread with seasoned olive oil (the real Italian butter) I ordered the Chicken Parmesan and my boyfriend ordered the Chicken Silvio. The Chicken Parmesan was hot but came with old, cold Ziti pasta, ruined the dish. The Chicken Silvio was hot but came with cold Risotto. Normally, a good Italian restaurant will bring the dish out and top with fresh parmesan, that didn't happen. The waitress later came to ask how our meal was, we told her both entrees were hot but came with cold pasta, she said that she would take care of it...didn't happen. Silvio came and ask how our meal was, we told him that the entree was hot but the pasta was old, he storms off saying "Pasta should not be cold!". Never saw him again. The waitress brought us 2 cannollis, (assuming for my birthday) along with the $80.00 bill with a $5.00 reduction noted as "satisfy". She didn't even ask us if we wanted any other dessert, I wanted to order the Italian Cream cake from the moment we walked in, it's my favorite! I was so frustrated with the service and food, we just paid the bill and left. I can't believe that we paid so much for such a horrible meal and a disappointing experience. I have never given a bad review but I was so sadly disappointed. It was my birthday, I was so looking forward to going to Silvios, my feelings were crushed, left me feeling like they were mad because...
Read moreThis is a special place! The food is first rate. From the best calamari I have ever eaten, and I have eaten a lot in my day, to sensational cannoli for dessert, the food was absolutely great! My Caesar salad was all lettuce, which of course it should be, but what I mean is there were no stems! (I hate getting romaine and there being more stem than leaves.)
As good as the food was the hospitality might have been better. Bill Silvio, the owner, loves people and food and it really shows! I have been asked by many managers at restaurants if "Everything was Excellent," in a half-hearted way as they walked by the table, basically repeating what they had been told to say, but when Bill Silvio talks to you, it is genuine and it is sincere. He is great with people and takes great pride in the food he serves, which is in my opinion why everything tastes so wonderful and why I felt so good being there. It was like I was part of a big family dinner!
We ate at the bar and his daughter Jackie did a great job serving us, while without any assistance, tended bar for the entire restaurant, took orders over the phone for carryout, and then checked them out as they piled in one after another. She did an amazing job.
This was our first trip, but we have already made reservations to return, this time with friends. I am certain it will be the first of many return trips we will make.
In this day of chain restaurants, it is wonderful to find a family owned and operated place, that exceeded all my expectations on food, service and atmosphere.
Five stars and two thumbs up...
