Authentically Disappointed... Pid Wung Jing Jing (Thai for very very disappointed) was the first thought after my senses registered the first bite into the shrimp spring roll. Players- 4 adults, 2 are familiar with the Thai cuisine. Hungry Level- very hungry. Decor- it's time for an update. Maybe it'll get a refresh after the Middletown branch renovation is completed. Affordability and Value- The X doesn't intercept the Y. Quantity > Quality The Dishes... Shrimp Spring Roll, about $6 per roll, typical presentation, lacked any taste. Daym Drop would call it "Crunchy and Chewy Water." The dipping sauce was overly sweet (didn't taste like plum sauce). Loaded Fried Rice, about $12, somewhat authentic, had a lot of chopped up veggies (squash, carrots, broccoli, corn kernels) which were bland. We couldn't figure out what the seasoning was. It felt like the veggies were cooked separately, dumped, and stirred into the fried rice. Mango Salmon, about $20, unauthentic, had cubes of mango in creamy curry sauce poured over cooked salmon. It was sweet overall. Massanman Curry, about $14 plus $2 beef upcharge, somewhat authentic, had skinned-on redskin potato halves (should've been deskinned), sliced beef, in brown curry sauce. The dish didn't taste as bad but it was sweeter than it should've been. Basil Fried Rice, about $12, somewhat authentic, didn't have much basil flavoring as we had to ask for more basil. Not sure if this was supposed to be Basil Chicken, in the Fried Rice form. In sum- every dish tasted sweeter than they should've been, they didn't have their "identity," unauthentic, meh service (as we were leaving, we were thanked by an employee while he looked down on his phone). Likeliness to return- not very likely.

This Thai restaurant exceeded my expectations! The food was truly amazing, and the prices were incredibly reasonable. I appreciated the option to customize the spice level, which was particularly important since my wife can't handle very spicy food. Unlike some Thai places, their level 0 was mild enough for her to enjoy. I, on the other hand, opted for level 5 and found it manageable, though I enjoy spicy food. The casual atmosphere makes it perfect for a low-key gathering or night out with friends. Highly recommend!

Well...look who's getting bad reviews removed by google AND yelp!!?? Ha!! I left a very detailed review nearly 3 years ago...not it's GONE from Google AND Yelp. Hmmm... Well, here it is... "I have never in my life left a bad review nor vowed to never return to a restaurant. Until last night. While ordering my child a fried rice kids meal I asked what the price difference would be to add shrimp. As I couldn't locate it on the menu only their website earlier that day all I remembered was $5. The waitress told me the price would be the same no matter what meat. I questioned five dollars? She said yes. For my other two children we planned to share a shrimp pad Thai and a green curry with chicken. Upon receiving the pad Thai and fried rice my daughter was starving and dug into her shrimp fried rice, as it took nearly 45 minutes to get our (partial) order. After dishing out portions of the pad Thai to the two other kids I put some on my plate - I bit into the shrimp and immediately spit it into a napkin. It was rotten. I then tasted and spit out every shrimp in the dish (maybe it was a fluke!?) Then pulled the other shrimp from my kids plates. Thinking that maybe it's just my pregnant taste buds I proceeded to have my oldest taste one of the shrimp from my plate. She nearly vomited! When our waitress, Mia, finally decided to return to our table I told her the shrimp was rotten; she said no and shook her head. She didn't believe me so I handed her the napkin full of rotten shrimp and told her just give me another pad Thai for the kids - I was too disgusted! When she returned to our table i had lost my appetite and just asked for a to-go box. She also brought me my receipt. They had not only charged me $8 dollars for my childs fried rice with 3 rotten shrimp (that I was told was $5 and was really only $4 on the receipt) but also charged me $15 for my rotten pad Thai (that is $13 on the site - mind you with presumingly tasty delicious unrotten shrimp). And it's only $10 for chicken. I told her that I also was just going to go ahead and assume that she wasn't going to bring us our green curry chicken. She told me I didn't order it. I did and when I was ordering I asked her for additional bowls and spoons for the kids...all of which she DID remember to bring...twice!! So they took off only $4 of the $5 extra I paid for the rotten shrimp on my plate and charged me $11 for the chicken pad Thai. I asked the waitress to take the shrimp off she refused rolled her eyes and walked off. (Any restaurant I've been to when I am served obviously rotten food they not only take that dish off they usually comp the replacement meal, I mean, nobody wants a bad review, right?!) The manager then came over and told me they wouldn't be taking any money off of our bill and insisted that the waitress wouldn't tell me the shrimp fried rice was the same pice as chicken. She did and everyone at the table heard her... I surely would not have paid double for a meal for three measly rotten shrimp, hence me inquiring about the price! He still refused - so I handed the manager my credit card and told him to go ahead and charge me as I wouldn't be back to the restaurant to enjoy their rotten shrimp ever again!! I left them my chicken pad Thai as I obviously couldn't trust their food handling practices! $29 for 4 waters, an appetizer, and my daughter eating her rice. Though I spent my evening and morning bowing to the porcelain throne, I would really like to thank to our waitress, Mia, for her sacrifice....your "would be" gracious New Years Day tip helped pay for our rotten shrimp! :-) Here's to cheersing a Happy New Year with a jug...

I love Thai and so when I moved to Louisville I made sure to find the best in town. That was Simply Thai. For the last couple years I have been ordering from them on almost a weekly or biweekly basis. Over the last several months the food has been hit or miss- but it's 2021 and during the pandemic, so what can I expect. I like heat but nothing crazy- Flavor but I don't want pain. I found myself ordering 5/5 because the food was never consistent in heat level and I would rather it be too hot from their standards than not hot enough for mine bc never was their version of 5/5 anywhere near what I would have at any other Thai place. My old Thai Place in Indy I would only get a 3 or 4 out of 5 because it was so hot! Tonight I ordered & paid $30 for one meal to have delivered and as soon as I opened it I could tell it was missing the normal curry powder- WHICH HAS HAPPENED BEFORE W THEM! because it was PLAIN rice and not the normal yellow color from the curry powder. It did have a ton of pepper on it just from the looks. Taste tested and ZERO HEAT! Checked the tag to see if I received the wrong order- nope. marked 5/5 heat level. If Pepper counts? and even then it tastes like just plain peppery rice- I hate complaining- that's why I keep going back and supporting a business that has been 75% inconsistent for the last year because I know things have been tough for everyone. Out of frustration I called them as soon as my meal arrived to tell them that I can send pictures of the food- it is clearly missing the curry seasoning and has a ton of pepper on it. Also, nothing had been ate yet because it wasn't what I ordered or wanted. I know seeing a picture isn't a taste test but as a restaurant they would be able to look at it and see it doesn't even look the same color that it normally does. OR ask the person who made it, do they remember making this order, maybe I was given another customers food or they forgot to add seasoning. After putting me on hold twice I was told that I could bring the uneaten food back to them and they would remake it. Listen, I appreciate it but that's ridiculous for a delivery order. I explained that I wasn't able to come there because that's why I ordered delivery. Also, I understood there wasn't anything that could be done but I felt they should be aware that if there is a different person making the food tonight, that as someone who eats here often- it's a dead giveaway when they're cooking...

This WAS my favorite restaurant Unfortunately today has ruined it for me for good. The past three times we have dined in simply Thai the service has become worse and worse. We came to Wallace ave location today, ordered around 1215/1220… appetizers and entrees as well two drinks. A table was seated next to use around 1225..After sitting until 1230 we got appetizers… we needed refills so my husband is mid sentence with our waitress when she completely turns her back and tends to the need of some one requesting a to go box. At 120pm the waitress brings our food… IN TO GO BOXES, bagged up and tied. Then asking us “didn’t you guys get your food to go?” NO… and we don’t have a drop in our glasses either. I then ask for the check because at this point we’d waited an hour and we are starving. And our food was all boxed up. Still unsure why that happened… the waitress disappears doesn’t return. We take boxes up food to front I ask for a manager. The young man says ok hold on goes in back then returns and says,” ummm we don’t have ems manager here.” So I proceed to explain the experience we just had.. he then says oh well I can call a manager on a phone and let you talk to them.” I said no this isn’t something I care to chat over a phone call with I just want to pay and leave now because we’re hungry. he then asks for our check.. I laughed and said ok as I explained we do not have a check the waitress didn’t return with one and this is what she gave us in these boxes. It was like we were in twilight zone and no one could understand what just happened. After debating the situation my husband was so upset he said just keep the food we’re done here and we left. The waitress never offered an excuse as to why she turned her back on us mid speaking, why our food was boxed to go when we were CLEARLY already dining in… as evidence by us eating appetizers in addition no excuse as to why no refills, no excuse as to why others who came after us got their meals, no excuse as to why we sat for an hour without our order. Very very poor service we will NOT return nor do we recommend. This is not the third occurrence the service...
