Cheddar Box Too — Restaurant in St. Matthews

Me and my girlfriend have been on mission to find the best brunch places in Louisville. I live very close to this little cafe but somehow have never visited. We decided to give it a go this morning. Huge mistake!!!

Our bad experience began before we were even seated. We walked in right behind a group of 5. The hostess immediately seemed displeased as she thought we were all one group. She huffed and puffed and was very unprofessional. We immediately felt unwelcome and the other group did as well. After the hostess decided to actually ask questions without complaining we were seated. We were given menus and within 3 minutes asked what we wanted to eat. I politely asked if we could have a minute as we had just started looking. I should have taken advantage. It took her a bit to get back and 2 tables that got there after us were able to order well ahead of us.

I could type a novel on the rest of the bad things I observed but honestly, not worth my time. In the end, the food was mehhh and the service was horrible. Move on to something else, this place will not last long unless they up their service...

I remember going to Cheddar Box years ago and being amazed at how great it was. This was my first time at Cheddar Box Too and it was so very disappointing. Service was slow and unenthusiastic. The portions were small. The food was really not good. My partner ordered the Tuna Melt and it didn't have any cheese on it. ?? It was literally a $12, small cold tuna salad sandwich that I could have made at home. The server offered to have them remake it but we were on lunch break and it already took so long for our food we didn't have time to send it back. I had the Eggs Benedict, which I like to get whenever I try a new place that has them, and it was mediocre at best. The meat was so salty so hard I could hardly eat it. I was hoping someone would ask us how everything was, so I could kindly tell them I wasn't impressed, but no one ever even asked! Add all that up with $3 for soft drinks and coffee and I will not ever be going back there. What a waste of $35 and a good lunch break. I expected more from the good 'ol...

Had a terrible waitress. My kids have severe allergies. When I asked if the bread had eggs she told me probably and when I asked for her to look she sighed and walked off. Then when I was going to order a sandwich for them and asked about what was in the white bread I was told that maybe I should feed them bread if I have these questions and concerns. I have never been treated so poorly asking about allergies. My kids could go into shock if they eat those foods. I shouldn’t have to argue with the waitress to get help. So I will never go back there to be treated like that again. I didn’t end up ordering because I couldn’t trust the service and I hope they reeducate staff. Or she should find another job if...
