Lenghty, but VERY honest review. Solid 3. I'll explain in detail. Little fun fact first for yall, my dad was apart of the crew that built Bay Breeze YEARS ago, he personally built the light house on top! I attended the Pre-Grand Opening before it was even open to the public. I have frequented this restaurant for years, and like most restaurants, it has gone down hill over the years, especially since Covid-19. Understandable. Here we go : Sunday 2/19/24 around 430pm: We had a Party of 16, called ahead, were seated in like 10 minutes, which was wonderful. We sat down at the table at 4:45pm. The restaurant was pretty busy, as expected. A server did not come to our table until about 5:10 for our drink and appetizer orders. We received drinks at 5:30. She then began to take our orders, service was fairly quick the rest of the meal. Majority of the party ordered sweet tea (it's the south, duh!), but that sweet tea tasted like straight sugar (no honey, 10X worse than McDonald's). I'm an avid sweet tea drinker, and even I, nor the kids, could handle it! No worries, the waitressES that were tending to our table were sweet, as prompt as they possibly could be given how busy thy were, and they gave us waters to make a little half and half tea situation. We get our appetizers, personally I only tasted the calamari, so I'll speak on it. It was DELICIOUS. Crispy, flavorful, hot, the whole 9 yards! No complaints. Next came our side salads, which made us realize, we didn't have any silverware. It took almost 10 minutes to get silverware, but like I stated, they were super busy! Anyway, the salad was absolutely delicious! Crunchy, fresh, etc! Perfect salad honestly! The waitress even asked if I needed extra dressing, I didn't have to ask her. Lastly, the entrees, Once again, I'm only speaking on things I personally tasted. My shrimp and scallop fettuccine Alfredo was ALMOST perfect, the scallops were just a little too tough for my liking. The shrimp, pasta, and bread however, were excellent! A family member got the crab legs, personally I give those a 4/10. Definitely not fresh, very underwhelming for the price. My boyfriend got the shrimp lovers JUNIOR and it was SO MUCH FOOD. It took 2 to go boxes for his food to fit! The shrimp just wasn't anything to brag about. Wa it good? Yes, but was it great? No. I give a 5-5.5/10. Rice pilaf was very underwhelming, solid 4/10. Food overall : 5.5-6/10 The bathrooms in this place were absolutely disgusting! Solid 1/10. Definitely need to do better!! The service was fairly slow in the beginning, but I do understand staffing issues, busy, etc. so I gave some grace here. I do believe as the evening went by, they seemed to work out the kinks, and our 2 servers, like I said, were actually fantastic, once they got a good steady rhythm going with their tables! Overall service wise, 7.5/10. I feel as if they were doing their best. Special thank you though to our 2 servers that did an excellent job taking care of us amidst all of the chaos, wish I would gotten names, but I did not.
All in all, not the best experience, but not the worst. Just very mediocre food for the prices, and definitely need to work out some kinks. A few people in our party (including myself) did feel sick for about 12-24 hours after in addition to this chaotic dining experience, so unfortunately, we probably won't return...
Read moreOooook ! Found this restaurant on google maps looking for fried vegetable plater . Check the menu out . They had the veggies plater . Then I read a few of the reviews. Location close to me was Hampton Ga . Arrived just after dark parking lot was lighted and clean had several parking spaces . No problem parking. Went inside reminded me of a Golden Corral interior. The staff greeted me right away I was seated immediately and I believe the MJR was named James was my server he explained that he was helping the staff out . He asked me what I’d like to drink I told him he also asked if I’d like something for starters I told him I’d like my drink and some time looking over the menu. He left as I was looking over the menu and my had rested on the table I felt stickiness. I got staff to wipe the table no worries. By the time my waiter came back I was ready to order. I ordered the fried vegetable plater a side of fried okra and a side of rice pilaf my order can back fast not much wait time . My okra was warm not hot like it was pre cook and setting in a warmer tray my veggies plater was a step hotter than my okra but similar as if it was pre cooked an taken from a warming tray. Taste was ok but not anything to brag about . As I was at the end of my meal. Here comes the kicker right by the napkin holder where I had pulled my napkins out crawl a roach I let the manager know and he said that another customer complained about roaches and the owner was there and he would tell him. I let him know I’d pay my bill but that’s a problem. Imagine how I felt after seeing the roach where there’s one there’s a family. And the manager was already aware. I’ll try another location in the future maybe but this was my first time at this restaurant . To the Owner your customers should never see roaches . Regular extermination especially in a restaurant would cure this. Issue there was enough paying customers Friday night 12/10/2021 to pay for an...
Read moreThe restaurant is pretty inside. Cute fish tank beautiful overhead lights. Tables were clean. Didn't need the facilities so cant comment on that. Our waitress was AWESOME, shes really the only reason I gave any stars at all . The presentation of the food was nice and you'd have no idea by looking at it that it was VERY VERY bland. The hush puppies were cute (I dont know why them being circles was cute to me but it was) but dry and flavorless. All the food lacked flavor, it was comical. The fried green tomatoes, the fried onion the tenders( which were also dry and i think they may have just cut up regular chicken breast meat they were so dry) the salmon was way over cooked. The stuffing for the seafood stuffed shrimp was soooo disappointing , flavorless and mostly just breading. The shrimp used for it was also way over cooked and tough. Also they dont allow you to substitute your side for other side items on the sides menu. I asked to sub my sweet potatoe for sweet potatoe fries and was told I have to buy it as an additional side..its only a dollar more ?? Why cant I just pay an uncharge and get the side id like? The sweet potatoe was burnt on the ends and outside so I ate the inner part like of was eating crab out a shell. The wine serving and price was basically on par for the usual prices in the area. I didnt get the flounder but my husband also made a comment about it being flavorless and my brother said the same about his catfish. The fried onion was fried to perfection but also flavorless and a bit small. The slaw was almost like a sauce itself it was minced and soupy. My brother got cabbage and it was just straight up boiled cabbage.. no seasoning or herbs or anything. The only thing good about our meal was the wine and cinnamon butter for the potatoe. I won't be back. I spent 85 $ plus tip and it just wasnt worth it. But thanks to our server for...
