I REALLY enjoyed this place up till today. I have never been treated with any disrespect as I was by the waiter today. I was humiliated and embarrassed. First off WHY have one waiter on hand for a busy lunch service? I felt bad for him having to run around so much I didn't ask for anything till we had to leave. Second when someone's card is declining on your machine I don't believe it's appropriate to yell that to the customer from the computer like what was done with me. I didnt realize he was talking to me at first and when I went to get up and ask him what was happening I accidently spilled my contents of my wallet on the floor. As I was picking it up he walked back over with my card and what I assumed was my receipt to sign. I asked at that point if he got it to run through and he said yes! So I stood back up and went to sign and tip when I noticed there was no line for that. Well he had already taken off to someone else so I started packing me and my 5 year old daughter up but was kinda hanging back since I wasn't sure if that was correct. I looked around the restraunt and noticed that other people had the signature paper. So I waited and he finally came back up to me and said "I need your card." I told him I thought he said it was paid but went for my card anyways to redo it. He then gets louder and says "No I told you the card didn't work you didn't pay for your ticket." I was like OK well that's not what you said a few minutes ago (I would NEVER dream of eating snd leaving without paying) and handed him my card back. He says even louder "This card doesn't work." I told him that that wasn't possible and it had to be the machine because I literally just bought my car plates at the DMV and it worked just fine. He stomped over to the register and started running it again then turns around as I'm walking up to him and yells across the restraunt and points. "SEE ITS NOT WORKING DONT ACT LIKE IM STUPID." I told him at that point that he can knock off his attitude and stop being rude and handed him another card to this he goes. "Wow look how hard it was for you to get another card wow!" Seriously?!?! You don't talk to anyone like that ever especially in front of multiple other people or my kid!! I won't be returning and would like an apology for having to be embarrassed and humiliated like that in front of other clients and my daughter. I don't care if she is only 5 but when she's asking my why the guy was yelling at me when we walk out of the restraunt that's an issue. Also just used my card at grease monkey and it...
Read moreGREAT FOOD but SUPER disappointed with service.
We found Bowl Izakaya during summer of 2021 and became regular online customers over the following months, often ordering through Google weekly for pickup. For quite a while this was our favorite dinner place.
Then, in Feb 2022, we had our first bad experience - we got the emails and text messages that our order had been received and was ready for pickup (as usual) but it wasn't ready when we arrived. The staff asked for my name SEVEN times and insisted on seeing both the text messages and the emails, as if we were trying to pull a fast one. Then eventually they found it in the system, noted it had been missed, told us to wait for it and disappeared. 10 minutes later, we went home with food, but no further interaction with staff. Okay fine. Mistakes happen.
However, less than a week later, I decided to give them another shot - their food really is good. The EXACT same thing happened - got confirmation emails and texts, order wasn't even in the system.
The staff member I spoke with was defensive of the automated system (saying it was working as expected because it automatically sends the "ready for pickup" email and text 15 minutes after the order is placed... unrelated to if the restaurant has acknowledged receipt) rather than trying to make the customer experience better. Then told me that I needed to stop ordering through Google (as we'd been doing for more than 6 months) and order through the website because they'd recently changed online order providers. I feel like getting the system working through Google is part of that transition, not something, I, as a customer, should know.
There was no attempt to make the user experience better - we were basically told we used the wrong system which was our mistake. We asked for a refund since our food wasn't ready again. The staff isn't empowered to do that. We asked for an owner / manager to contact us and the server took down our name and number. It's been a number of days, we haven't heard from the owner and we received a $2 refund with no explanation.
I'm super disappointed.
I still highly recommend their food, but would only suggest eating there in person as their online integrations for carry out (and likely delivery) aren't reliable and making the customer experience better when something goes awry doesn't seem to be a priority...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Bowl IZAKAYA, and as a first-time ramen enthusiast, I can say it was an intriguing experience!
I opted for the beef ramen, and while I was a bit on the fence about the noodles—texture and thickness can make or break a ramen dish for me—the flavorful broth was definitely a highlight. It had a rich depth that paired beautifully with the savory beef, making each sip enjoyable.
We also ventured beyond the ramen and tried the soup dumplings, which were delightful! They burst with flavor and had the perfect balance of broth and filling, definitely a must-try if you visit. The bacon-wrapped peppers were another standout, offering a delicious combination of smoky and spicy that I simply couldn’t resist.
To complete our meal, we had some sushi, which was fresh and well-prepared—definitely worth adding to the order next time.
One small suggestion: I found myself wishing for a wider variety of sauces on the table or served alongside the ramen. A little extra flavor could elevate the dish even more and cater to different taste preferences.
Overall, my visit to Bowl IZAKAYA was enjoyable, and I left satisfied. The combination of tasty dishes and a welcoming atmosphere makes me eager to return and further explore their menu. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a laid-back spot to enjoy some...
