I'm sorry but I'm giving a mixed review here. The food is great, that's why I always made it week after week, spending in the hundreds for my orders. This week I spent $142.02. I ordered from the meal plan and got some breakfast sandwiches and chocolate buckeyes.
My experience during the last two weeks, however, has been far from pleasant. The lady is a sweetheart, but the guy is very snooty. I came in last week for my meal plan order, as well as breakfast sandwiches and buckeyes, but the guy was not welcoming. No greeting, nothing. Just waiting with a very cold expression on his face. That was fine, I just got my order, paid, and went. It was this week that was the worst. As usual, the cold demeanor. When I got my things and said I had an order, I was told to let him know first about it so that the items would be ready when I had everything to add to the order. Fine, I said yes, but I find it strange that the one requesting service has to make it convenient for the one providing service, especially since I was the only customer there at that time. So when the items were being scanned, I was told that the Bison was just the protein. I knew that and said yes. It was when he said that I had to know that because of the last time I got the chicken protein. I was thinking "Huh?" because I never bought chicken protein. Yesterday was the very first time I bought a protein, so I don't know who he was talking about. Then at some point I just mentioned one of the items and he muttered, "I hear you."" I mean come on! It was just one after another moment of being treated as such. I just wish he refused service so I could just walk out, since the experience was getting more and more unpleasant for me. I was glad to get out of there once I had everything.
Now that is my experience. My experience won't be your experience, so please go and enjoy the meals and the cafe offerings. The products offered are good. In my case, however, I don't think I will be returning. I don't know why I was treated as such, but it was very degrading. I have always had very good experiences ordering from eateries and cafes here, so this experience took me by surprise. I guess I'll just wait for the times I visit my son in New York City, since I am treated a lot better there, be it a simple cafe or a high end restaurant. At least Clean Eatz Kitchen has an online market where I can order things and not be judged or made to feel unwelcome. It is ironic, because I remember reading in The Burg about the cafe being welcoming and nonjudgmental. Unfortunately, it wasn't welcoming or nonjudgmental to me for the last two...
Read moreI am here to update my recent review which you can find below. Because Steve, the owner, asked me to call him to remedy the situation, I did and am happy to change my review to five stars. He apologized and explained what had happened. He has gone over and above any of my expectations, and for that I am extremely grateful. I will be back, but until then I am not able to personally give any stars for the food. My friend did attest that her bowl was fresh and delicious, so I am excited to go back and enjoy a bowl sans garlic!
I really would have loved to write a good review, but after my recent experience, I just can't. Before I ordered I told the person taking my order that I have a garlic allergy (it causes extreme gastric distress) so she could check on a menu item I was interested in. She asked the manager/owner and he said that nothing they serve contains garlic. I found that hard to believe since I could smell it in the dining area. My friend, whom I was dining with and who treated me to lunch, asked again on my behalf before our food arrived, and she was assured that the food I ordered did not contain garlic. Our food came and I started eating it. Initially I could not tell if it was my food or the smell in the air that contained garlic, but I ended up avoiding things in my bowl that seemingly contained garlic. I should not have eaten it, but I trusted they had carefully checked their ingredient list. A bit later I started to become ill. When I could manage it, I called the business and asked to speak to the manager or owner. He was not there but he called me back. I explained the issue and he claimed again that there was no garlic in the food. I told him that I know for a fact that there was garlic due to my symptoms, and we then ended our conversation--I was feeling too bad to argue. He called me back to tell me that he looked again and that there was, in fact, garlic listed on the ingredient list. He apologized and offered to give me a free meal, but when I told him that it would not do me any good, he offered to credit my friend's charge card for the cost of my bowl. I provided the information to him to enable him to do that, and now, over a week later, she has received no credit on her card. Super...
Read moreClean Eatz - Harrisburg PA is our absolute favorite place to go for dining in and take out. We have replaced almost our entirety weekly grocery shopping with prepared meals from Clean Eatz. The food is amazing. So many choices that it never gets boring. The freezer section is convenient to stop on and shop freely. The staff is always super friendly. If you have questions about anything, they are more than happy to help. If you have dietary restrictions, they can help with whatever you need. I can't express how much this place has changed our lives. We have more free time to do what we love due to the prepared meals and our health has improved dramatically. My husband lost over 50 lbs in under 6 months due to eating these meals 3 times a day. The ingredients are locally sources and meals are prepared on site. There is no food waste.
