After I arrived, I conversed with the employee operating the cashier about the work ethic of our mutual acquaintance, referring to the Sicilian immigrant and long term owner of Bella Italia. He responded simply with “they don’t make ‘em like him anymore.” Despite my connection with the “big man” this was my first time in his shop. After I overcame the tantalizing aroma of fresh dough and cheese, I was greeted with shelves of beautiful pizza stacked in front of the ovens and witnessed smiles on everyone’s faces. It immediately became evident this establishment was build upon solid foundational principles of hard work, passion, geniality, attentiveness, and culinary expertise. The business has done more than feed empty stomachs it’s cultivated relationships. I witnessed an employee and a loyal customer exchange jokes on how many leftover boxes she required due to her usual gluttonous order. But I can’t blame her. Because the pizza is absolutely delicious! It’s light, crisp, and punches your tastebuds a one way ticket to flavor-town. You can taste the care in each bite just as the “big man” originally intended. After leaving, I realized this place is more than just a pizza shop. It’s a community. A community of people all following the principles laid down by its dedicated owner. All serving pizza his way. This place is a must stop for all pizza lovers and anyone interested in seeing how a business is...
Read moreBella Italia Pizza in Ardmore is a disgrace to the Italian cuisine. I recently ordered a pizza from them. It turns out that they deliver through DoorDash. This was never disclosed to me and when my pizza arrived, it arrived as a heaping, messy pile of pizza. The cheese was all over the place, and the toppings were sliding off the crust. It was like they had just thrown it in a box and sent it on its way.
When I tried to explain the problem to the driver, he literally ran from my house and took off in his car. When I called Bella Italia Pizza, they said that it was not their problem and that I needed to contact Door Dash. So, I was forced to jump through all sorts of hoops to get a refund. In the meantime, I didn’t have a pizza, or anything to feed my kids. And Bella Italia, could not make it right because they don’t do their own delivery and couldn’t deliver new pizzas. Check out my posted photos of my delivered pizzas.
I was so disappointed, because I had heard good things about Bella Italia Pizza in the past. But this experience has completely changed my mind. I will never order from them again.
I would advise anyone else considering ordering from Bella Italia Pizza to think twice. There are many other great pizza places in Ardmore that will actually deliver a pizza that looks and...
Read moreSo good I can't believe we didn't have them until now. Let's just say that even with delivery, the pizza tasted amazing! Almost like I would be fine not ever trying NY pizza. We ordered the original with mushrooms. They gave so many mushrooms! The pizza tasted amazing! The cheese blend was comforting but novel (not sure what the exact cheese mix is). Also the pizza hit all the right notes without feeling greasy or too salty. Like I could enjoy delicious pizza that feels healthy (or at least not heavy) and not have to chug a glass of water. The crust was crispy and satisfying without feeling too doughy. Also, I think the reasonable amount of salt comes from their confidence as cooks and purveyors of ingredients. Even the Italian salad was savory and satisfying and perfectly seasoned. The pickles and peppers were insanely delicious (in a low-key way, like you went to an Italian friend cook's house for dinner) and the vinaigrette was awesome! The homemade meatballs were also perfect! Would totally want to order this exact menu again (maybe try another pizza...the margherita, perhaps)? It was so good we forgot to take pictures. The food just disappeared. Our toddlers were able to independently feed themselves....
