I ordered takeout from here about a month and a half ago and the food and the service was wonderful so I said to my husband let’s go for dinner tonight. We got there at 4 o’clock on a Saturday. There were some folks already seated. We didn’t realize you needed a reservation so they seated us in the corner.. The waitress did not seem to understand our order, and gave us iced tea instead of seltzer. The appetizers we ordered was stuffed mushrooms and a Caprese salad. All very good and fresh. I ordered salmon Rockefeller, which was to come with fresh spinach and shrimp and rice on the side. The shrimp was frozen little mini shrimp, and the salmon tasted like it had been frozen as well. It was buried in some kind of orange sauce when it was supposed to be a blush sauce, not very good. My husband ordered the eggplant Parmesan, which was good but it was 33 thin thin slices of eggplant, buried in cheese and sauce with spaghetti on the same plate not actually on the side so the portion was quite small when the waitress returned she did not ask us if we wanted anything else she was coming with the check which we kind of felt like we wanted to have a cup of coffee we did not feel welcome. We were not offered if we wanted dessert or anything either . The dining room was very tight and people were loud and obnoxious. Hence no one was asked to keep it at a low roar. we cleared our own table and stack the dishes at one point. I believe it was the owner that came over and took a plate off our table while he was talking to someone on the phone about some type of personal issues. Not a very good experience we probably...
Read moreWow! Finally a break from the usual all-too-common regular Italian restaurants around here [don't get me wrong; some are quite good]. Ricardo's advertises itself as "Mediterranean" and really means it. Plenty of standard Italian fare is on the menu, including some of my favorites that I can't seem to find elsewhere [shrimp or flounder francese, for two], but there's a batch of distinctively Spanish/Portuguese selections like Bacalao, Paella, and pork-and-shrimp. They recently added a green sauce dish and said they could make mariscada em molho verde even though it's not on the menu. And best of all, Portuguese fried potato chips, something I thought I'd lost forever when I moved here from Queens.
The quality and flavor of the food was excellent. Crab soup was amazing, the flounder was absolutely fresh and perfectly prepared, and the flan is to die for. The only minor disappointment was a "sizzling shrimp" appetizer that didn't sizzle and whose delicious sauce was slightly marred by [what I consider] a heavy hand on the salt.
The service was exceptionally friendly and attentive; our server took plenty of time to explain dishes. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. P.S. Don't believe everything you see on Google Maps. The parking and entrance are in the rear on Fetters Mill Square, not in front on...
Read moreWhat’s happening? We have been going to Ricardo’s since Felix owned it (4 owners ago). We order take out at least once a week recently and eat in when possible. Last night was terrible. I called in and was asked to hold. I was on hold for 20 minutes. I could hear it was busy but I think he forgot he put the home down. When he realized there was a call waiting he then apologizes and I give my order. Told it would be ready in 40 minutes. We were already outside so we waited. My husband went in and was told they ran out of sausage, peppers and onions after waiting again when he went in. A few weeks ago we order stuffed salmon and was given plain salmon. We called and explained but we were not driving back. I called after last nights incident and ask to speak to the owner who I have met on at least 3 occasions in the restaurant. I was told he was in a meeting so I left my name and number and why I was calling. I have not heard a word. This was the second time this week we ate from Ricardo’s. Again I will say what is happening So on a Sunday night our options for take out...
