Gatsby’s is somewhat of a secret dining spot in Pottstown, unless you’re going to a show at Soul Joel’s. First, the food was great. The Breakfast for Dinner was phenomenal. But the downside was that for some reason the food runners seemed to outnumber the servers by about three to one. I would estimate the total seating area easily would accommodate close to 100 people, and that’s not even including the bar. We could only count about four servers, and since most patrons are on a schedule eating before a show that’s fairly short-sighted. It took almost 25 minutes for our food to come out, and we were one of the first tables to order. We weren’t even asked about dessert, and I had my eyes set on the pumpkin cheesecake 😞. When it came time to settle the check that was at least 20 more minutes. We finally walked up to the server station with our folio in hand to get cashed out. My recommendation is to get there early, tell your server you’re going to see the show and the time you want to be out, which I suggest is at least 30 minutes prior to your show. Communicate your expectations or you’ll be disappointed.

I was looking for a Wednesday date night with music and a TV to hopefully catch the Phillies and found this GEM through FaceBook events. It’s not super close to me but so worth the trip. The food was unusual and delicious - the actual menu is entertaining in and of itself. The service was on point and the entertainment was exactly what I was looking for! Gatsby’s is part of the SunnyBrook Ballroom complex so the facility itself is accessible with ample restrooms and a nice outside seating area. I only just rediscovered it (thanks FB events!) but I see the ballroom has events in addition to the free nightly entertainment inside Gatsby’s. I can’t wait to check more out and I hope the model succeeds in what has always been a real treasure in Pottstown. Noting that I indicated the amount spent per person was in the $30-50 range but we were there for quite a while and ate and drank and then ate and drank some more so it is reasonable for a night out.

Everything was delicious! We sat at the bar to watch the Phillies, I had a fruity cocktail and my husband had a beer. We ordered chicken & waffles, calamari, fried cheese bites, and fried burrata! All so yummy!

My husband and I saw Rich Voss at Soul Joel’s. We had drinks and dinner at Gatsby’s Pub. I ordered the nacho fries as an appetizer and the grilled cheese for dinner. The nachos are amazingly delicious! The pork was tender and juicy, the green sauce was so tasty that I ate more fries dipped in the sauce that I probably should have! Couldn’t stop!! My grilled cheese made my husband envious until I offered him 1/2 of it. The pesto and cheese made me so happy!! The homemade chips are crispy and perfectly seasoned. My husband had the hoagie salad and was very happy with it. How do I know? Because he kept saying, I’m happy with my choice. The food alone would give this place 5 stars.

Okay, let’s talk service! Our server was Theresa, she greeted us with a smile and told us we could sit anywhere we wanted. By the time we sat down, another server was dropping two waters at our table. Theresa came right back and took our order. The food and drinks were quick to reach our table. As a manager, I like to observe establishments. This place runs like a well oiled machine. Service is 5 stars.

Thank you to Theresa, Ashley and Sarah for excellent service! You are excellent on the floor! Thank you to Annette, the bar tender for our spirits. Compliments to Chef Scott for a most delicious meal. Jessica, the GM should be very proud of her team!

Having said that, the Rich Voss and friends show was very funny as expected, however, the real unexpected surprise was the Gatsby’s Pub !!

It’s off the beaten path, and is truly...
