Holy smokes what a wonderful experience! The family (15 of us) went for an early Mother's day celebration. What a wonderful 1st time experience. I love the Greek fare a d boy oh boy was that some scrumptious food. Our server, Vera, did such a nice job caring for us. We got a slew of appetizers. I got the fried calamari the table of 15 of us shared it, enormous barely scratches the surface of the theme for tonight. The soups were delicious. I cant express enough, everything is home made. Right there in Pottstown, a real family affair. The Greek salad logically was delightful. Their dressing is a creamy version, a little different, but delightful just the same. I got the Athenian pizza. Imagine a gyro or maybe a Greek salad on top of a pizza...it makes no sense, but it was to die for. It had feta mozzarella creamy garlic sauce gyro meat & Kalamata olives on it. What a crazy concoction... but I cant wait to get it again. My wife got a chicken pasta dish. Mom got a lemony chicken dish , and our aunt got the pork chop meal.. The waitress brought things out one at a time for the most part...likely because the amount of food on the platters alone was more than a young lady should be carrying. We are not a small eating crowd and No One finished their meals. A couple of our party ventured into their limited dessert menu and got the baklava ice cream Sundae. Honestly if you don't have 3 to 4 people sharing that thing...call the paramedics, you'll need them.
What a delightful quaint establishment with huge portions with enormous authentic Greek flare at super reasonable prices. I can not wait to go back. But my Bride reminds me that we need to finish the leftovers before we return...so I guess we need to wait til...
Read moreOpa Vera's is my favorite restaurant in Pottstown; possibly in all of Pennsylvania. In fact, I think it's just my favorite restaurant.
The place is wonderful from the moment you enter. The atmosphere is friendly and comfortable all around. The staff is fantastic - they're incredibly friendly to everyone I've ever seen inside. The waitress is always top-notch, and I've never seen my glass empty for more than a minute or two. You can really feel the passion the owners have in their craft.
Now let's talk about the food: the main reason you're probably reading restaurant reviews. Oh man, the food. It's excellent. It's better than excellent. I always go hungry and leave stuffed. The servings are great. I've had chicken breasts that hardly fit on the large plates, each bite juicy and packed with flavor. Pasta dishes with every bite rich, flavorful and coated in excellent sauce. The cooks know what they're doing, and they're very good at it.
I've been coming here for years. I love it, my family loves it, my friends love it, everyone I know in Pottstown who's been loves this place. I've had Opa Vera's cater for family events, with food for dozens, and have nothing but positive reception and numerous relatives reaching for seconds.
I've been loving it for years, and I'll be coming back as long as those lights stay on. If you have any love of good food and good service, I wholeheartedly recommend it. It deserves every bit of...
