My wife and I have been here twice for their Sunday brunch and we have enjoyed it on both occasions. The assortment isn't huge but I am OK with a smaller assortment if they replenish it enough - which they do here. Also, the size of the assortment needs to match the price tag and Chadwick's scores on that count too.
The restaurant, as locals would know, is situated right next to a golf course so that gives it a bit more character than being located in say, a drab strip mall. I don't recall have being to this restaurant at a time of the year when it was warm enough to sit outside but if the restaurant made that possible, I would really enjoy being able to do that.
Now on to the spread itself. The items that I regularly try out are some of the prepared cold salads (e.g. a potato salad), hot entrees (a tortellini we had at the last brunch was just great), bacon, and sausage. My wife often gets something from the omelet station. The item that I think we both like the most are their french toasts. Along with the maple syrup (which is placed right next to the French toasts), those toasts are one of the things that make this buffet great. There are also desserts like cheesecakes or brownies but very often we are full that we don't get to try those out. A minor quibble is that coffee is not included in the brunch price but nevertheless, I think at $15 it still offers good value.
In terms of the service, I think this is an area where they could up their game. While we haven't had any unpleasant experiences during our visits (the guy at the omelet station is quite nice in fact), neither my wife nor I find the servers to be particularly hospitable or welcoming. There are other restaurants - and White Dog Cafe in Wayne readily comes to mind here - where the servers are simply more happy to have you around or are more attentive to your needs. E.g. at Chadwick's during last weekend's brunch when my wife wanted a glass of water with no ice, the server did bring one out but she didn't appear too pleased with the request. Again, I wouldn't say that service at the restaurant is unacceptable; it is just that they could do a better job and round off what is otherwise a good restaurant located in a nice setting and offering tasty fare.
Closing note - the price for the buffet will be going up to $18 from $15 in early May 2018 and I think at that point, it goes from being a great value proposition to one that's just about OK. I think we like this place enough that we would still come but also we are interested in trying out some of their "specials" like $10 entrees on Tuesdays or Smokehouse night...
Read moreBeen coming here for nearly 20 years to golf and dine. Golf is difficult. Lots of doglegs and tree lined fairways. Beautiful course, well kept an enjoyable experience.
Chadwick's, the restaurant has a great bar, as well as inside and outside (Patio) dining areas. Food is more than good. Is it great? Maybe not but close. I'm not really sure what it lacks but that's a personal preference.
However, the attraction for me is the venue and ambience. Love the Patio. Located on the pastoral 18th hole with an incredible view of that beautiful and serene setting. Can't say enough about the bar and the outside dining area.
The bar is physically attractive and most important to me, quiet with a generally classy crowd.
The restaurant also has food special nights. For example, Wednesday is an all you can eat Crab night. These nights are well worth the visit.
I've only dined in the inside dining area on rare occasions. Not really sure why. For some reason it just doesn't grab me. I find it somewhat dark.
There are some negatives. Management hires live music, on the Patio on some occasions, although seemingly less now. I feel it ruins that pastoral setting. The Patio is perfect without it. I've mentioned it to management on several occasions. They could actually save the money. The Patio is beautiful without it. The enemy of better if best.
The wait staff are generally pleasant, attentive and prompt.
One last negative is the paucity of the liquor shots. They hold to the metered shot line. Somewhat surprising considering the quality and class of the restaurant.
All in all, I give Chadwick's a 5, weather permitting. A 4 when it is not. A very enjoyable...
Read moreLet me begin by saying that we have been members of the swim club for nine years and have eaten here at least a hundred times. Food was usually excellent, service was always good, and management did a fantastic job of helping out the servers during busy times and taking care of any issue that may have come up. They have a great beer menu and the live music was most excellent. Sundays during the summer usually had my wife, son, and I sitting on the patio having a meal and listening to the music. My wife has expressed many times that this is her "favorite thing to do". However, this season, things seemed to have changed. The menu is a little different, but not for the better. The food is good, but not as consistently excellent as it was and portion size seems to have decreased on many items. The biggest disappointment though, is the patio and live music. Great bands that played here for 8+ years have not been seen this season. I personally know a few of them. They were not asked to return to play at Chadwick's anymore because the restaurant was "going in a different direction". The live music they have now is quite poor. The atmosphere on the patio is nothing like it was. It is no longer my wife's favorite thing to and we found ourselves going there much less frequently...we used to go almost every Sunday. Whatever “new direction” Chadwick’s is going in seems to be nowhere but down. It is a real shame because I used to sing the praises for this place all the time and now find myself not...
