I ordered for take out and want to start off by saying my sister is intellectually disabled and high-functioning autistic. This was literally our first time here. We ordered three drinks, and she also wanted their âPhilly Jawnâ sandwich but was confused on why it didnât come on a croissant. Since she has anxiety and trouble with social interaction, I went and asked about it for her and was met with the most random rude service. Not sure if he was the owner or manager, and he was just having an off day or what. I literally started off the conversation with saying Iâm not sure if I got the right sandwich⌠and he goes âyeah well you grabbed it.â already sounding irritated. me: I thought I got the Philly Jawn that came on a croissant? and then he tells me it comes on a potato bun, raises his voice then tells me if I looked at the menu nowhere does it say it comes on a croissant. With his voice raised âWHERE DO YOU SEE THAT IT COMES ON A CROISSANT?â like dude⌠chill? I looked at the menu online and honestly I donât blame my sister for being confused either because I was also confused looking at it. No where does it say it comes on a potato bun either. All of their other menu items are either bulleted and ended in a price. The only section that wasnât was their seasonal food menu so we both thought that 3-lined menu section was one item. I ended up apologizing for being mistaken, but I regret feeling like I had to apologize after literally getting YELLED AT to the point where I felt like there were some eyes on us.
I went home and felt like I was gaslit into feeling like I did some egregious, so I had asked others for their thoughts, and a couple people said they thought the same thing with the menu, so I wonder he was just short with me because I wasnât the first person that thought this so he was getting frustrated? I find this ridiculous because Iâm the type of person that doesnât even prioritize service, I prioritize food quality over everything and frequently visit restaurants that many avoid due to poor service. Iâm patient and donât mind waiting (about 20-25 minutes, but I didnât mind as I wasnât in any rush). My only expectation is to not be rude and this place failed only that, lol. Despite this, the person that rung me out was perfectly wonderful so this is not in regard to her.
As for the sandwich, my sisterâs words were âI liked it. It was goodâ so thereâs that. I didnât have a bite of it to know. Her only critique is that itâs a little greasy. This place went viral after some random person reviewed their matcha drinks and it was just⌠okay. Refreshing but not the best. They advertise it as ceremonial grade matcha but if youâre an avid matcha drinker then you would know using ceremonial matcha on an iced fruity drink is honestly a waste.
The influencer said it was the best matcha outside of Philly which might be true for her, but Iâve had better elsewhere, although I also recognize I live closer to Philly and was only was in the area for a food festival. Iâm beating myself up because I should have known when I watched the girl say this is the best matcha she ever had outside of Philly without mixing itâŚ. This is probably more of a reflection of the limited options around. Sister said her iced caramel latte was just okay. This place just feels like another hipster cafe which might be lacking in the area, but thereâs plenty elsewhere. Being Asian myself, Iâm not short on places to get matcha. If youâre in or around Philly, this is not worth a trek or going out of your way for, but it may be a convenient choice if you live in the area and donât have as many options as the city. This was my first and will probably be my last time...
Read moreI used to work at the wretched place. This is an edit of a previous good review, that I posted in hopes of being seen as a team player. As a professional I have zero interest in that any longer, and I refuse to have any part of uplifting this pathetic excuse for a cafe. I have worked in 15 different businesses (multiple being in the coffee industry as a barista or restaurant manager) across this country - Texas, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and Ohio. I have left on good terms with every single one of them with the exception of this place. Out of every place I worked and every cafe I frequented in any place I lived - these guys are the absolute worst. I wish I could be dramatic in saying that. The team and baristas are generally amazing, because the owner really knows how to find someone buying the dream they are selling of âsaving humanity one cup of coffee at a timeâso they can work these empathetic people into the ground profiting off of said ability to empathize. Hence the consistent (and letâs face it - kinda high) turnover in staff. Is that the owners goals? Well, it is not my place to speak for him. As an outside observer? Let us just say that that man can talk the talk when it comes to helping others, but beyond that he has no clue what he is doing if it isnât written in a textbook or on google. He does not care. He pretends to care so that he looks like a good person, so that when he plays âwoe is meâ - he can blame all these people he is helping (for needing help)⌠instead of taking a look in the mirror and realizing HE needs to help himself. To inpatient psychiatric care. Indefinitely. I put 76 hours into this company my last two weeks. We agreed upon a part time schedule, any of my extra time was unpaid volunteer time. Which was fine until that time became expected of me without a proper conversation between employer and employee regarding the change in schedule. Let alone asking for and receiving consent BEFORE doing so. Lastly, to the lady who said her sandwich was dirty and he replied saying the camera proves it wasnât? There is no camera in the kitchen. He has cameras, but he rarely checks them anyways. He uses them to make passive aggressively entitled comments to people leaving genuine honest reviews that he COULD just use as constructive criticism to better his business (like they teach you to do in college when you study for a Business degree). But i guess he skipped the âcustomer serviceâ part of class to go to another country and relax to get away from all the stressful customers that he literally does not even deal with. And from his âstressful lifeâ of⌠making passive income and doing basically whatever he wants 24/7? It is honestly just ungrateful which is HILARIOUS considering this man is a stickler for gratitude. Which would explain why he dismisses people, like heâs the queen and we are all peasants. Thatâs okay though, donât break both of your legs falling off that high horse of yours. Moral of the story: do not support this place, if I could walk in there without being harassed, Iâd walk in just to give the baristas some money, offer them a better place to work, and walk the hell out. Without buying a damn thing. I hope this place crashes and burns. The idea for this coffee shop was stolen anyways, he isnât even original. There is no proof of that though. But we arenât old enough for that conversation, are we? Thatâs okay, your karma is happening and it will be long, slow, painfully drawn out, and inevitably - YOURS. I mean, you...
Read moreUsed to be my favorite place for coffee, and have taken a lot of friend there as well but very disappointed with their service. I had door dashed an order and my order was all wrong. They sent a regular latte instead of the cardamom mocha and the bagel was definitely not made with clean hands, it smelled and tasted funny, to the point that my spouse threw up. I will never be returning to this place ever again. They have gotten popular because of people like us who keep introducing their friends to this cafe thinking itâs a nice place but their quality has gone down by a lot. They are always understaffed and a single cup of coffee takes hours to get. I wouldnât mind waiting for a fair amount of time if my order was correct but the order was all wrong as well.. very disappointing to say the least.
Follow up on the review: Firstly, itâs shocking to see that you guys have the audacity to write such a review after making multiple wrong orders in the past. I will post picture of the DoorDash reviews with dates to prove it. I have attached two pictures of the wrong order following by a positive review when the order was correct. Once again, after so many wrong orders, so many chances, we always let things slide. But this time the food was actually dirty and disgusting to get anyone sick. My purpose of sharing this was to prevent that from happening to others but of course the owner is not used to honesty. Also Ebru had made DoorDash call us and apologize on their behalf which does not reflect in their reply here. We were told that you were sorry for the wrong order and wanted us to come to the cafe to get a free meal which I absolutely said NO to, not at all interest in anything from you guys because your bagel made my spouse very sick and FYI, I have had your coffee atleast 50x before at the cafe and what was delivered, was def NOT a cardamom mocha latte. All we wanted to do was for you to acknowledge your error and apologize so this doesnât happen again to us or to others. There are more reviews on DoorDash from others in the past about incorrect items. As unprofessional as you people are, I believe you deny them all.
We are NOT interested in any refunds and we did not accept a 100% refund from DoorDash ( they partially refunded for wrong coffee which was also not something we asked for.) Itâs surprising to see how unprofessional and unethical you people are and have no grace in accepting honest criticism. You could have 65 people working for you, but every time I have been there with friends, there has always been a long wait (which is not an issue) but the order has been delivered incorrectly a few times prior as well in the past. I have always let it slide thinking okay they must be busy, and mistakes happen. But now after reading your response, and recognizing how ungrateful you are towards your customers, I will make it a point to let all my friends family neighbors along with my co workers to never ever try this cafe ever again. If you donât appreciate your clients sincerely, we donât have to go out of our way to bring friends and family there.
And no thank you, we do not need your free food which made my spouse so sick. I come from a family of physicians and I can assure everyone reading this that the bagel that was given to us, smelled absolutely disgusting. Please refrain from calling us to bribe us by your free meals in exchange for deleting our honest review. We are genuinely not...
