I’m always on the lookout for a good Italian Bakery, and I’m glad to have found one so close to home. I found Corropolese a few months ago and I’ve been back several times since. I know a lot of people know this place (and their other locations) for their tomato pies, but don’t forget about the pastries and other desserts. There’s a whole display counter of just cookies. Then there’s multiple displays of donuts, buns, fritters, cannoli, eclairs, creme puffs, sfogliatelles, pies, cakes, etc., and that’s only one side of the bakery. There’s also other specialties like baklava and cannoli chip dip too. They sell rainbow cookies, pizzelle, and boxed panettone as well. They make a maple bacon donut that is an absolute necessity to purchase every time I’m there. Last time I was there, there was a caramel apple walnut pie that was just calling my name, so I’m excited to go back next week and pick one up for Thanksgiving. Everything here is well made, not overly sweet, just perfectly delicious. Do yourself a favor and go pick up a box or two of your favorite assortments.

I heard getting tomato pie here is a must, so on our last work trip to the area, my husband and I had to try it. We shared: - Classic Red Tomato Pie - Sweet Pepper Pie - Pepperoni Pie The classic tomato pie was fantastic. I'm no expert, but of the ones I've had in Philly, it's hands down the best. I didn't realize the Sweet Pepper pie was just peppers and bread, so I probably wouldn't get that again. I did enjoy the Pepperoni, but the classic was so good, I would probably just get more of it next time. The craziest part of this experience was how cheap it is. Each of the pies is between $5 and $6 and they're big. The three my husband and I got were too much food for the entire day. There's no seating, so you have to take your food to go. I'll definitely be back here next time I have a work trip!

I ordered for the first time yesterday, I have been gifted cookies from here and also have had the tomato pie which is phenomenal, but upon being asked to bring dessert for a family gathering I decided to order cream puffs from here rather than just go to the grocery store. We ended up being less than impressed as we had to play cream puff roulette because probably more than half of the 3 dozen I ordered has a solidified center which was very unappetizing and disappointing. The ones with the right texture in the center were decent but I was kind of hoping that they would be out of this world and more fresh tasting than frozen ones you can buy at the store ): Maybe just a freak bad experience but I had to give feedback!

Like most bakeries there are hits and misses. so, based on what I have actually eaten from this shop, from excellent to average...

Excellent: Tomato Pie: Best in the world provided you like a sweet sauce, which I do.

Tea Cakes/Biscuits. I can't remember what they are called, cakes or biscuits, but these are better than the equivalent from all other bakeries I have tried. I toast them and eat with some jam and butter.

The customer service if great. It is not a food item, but it is something that is most important to me in the last few years. Corropolese has many young people there who show a great attitude and work hard.

Real Good: The Baklava, surprisingly, is well done. And from an Italian bakery, not a Greek one. It seems difficult to get baklava right for many bakeries. This is moist and full of flavor.

The Sfogliatelle. These are heavy and dense. Give them a try for sure.

The Scones are tasty. They are the American type, triangular and maybe more dense than the British style. I usually prefer the round types, but I enjoyed the different flavors they offer.

Average:

Honestly, the cakes and pies were only average here. Nothing horrible, but not memorable. They are lower in price than many other places, so I can't say you are getting ripped off in any way.

With reasonable prices and a friendly staff I intend to keep coming back, for my favorite items and to try new ones. 5 stars despite some...

Pros Big selection one of the bigger selections for a bakery I have been too Everything was reasonably priced A few items bakery don't typically have like large strudel. They even have someone that makes homemade donuts several days a week Decent selection of breads, Stromboli and even pizza The pumpkin cheesecake we got was really good The brownie we got was OK but it had marshmallow on top which made it good but super sweet Pumpkin strudel was really good They had sfogliatelle which is hard to find in my area and was good

Cons None really

It would be nice to see a few more Italian items but I understand it can be difficult to sell and even find some ingredients. They have a big variety something for pretty much everyone. They used marshmallow creme which doesn't have Gallatin and is OK for vegetarian, which was great.

Overall, I would definitely go back...
