Big Chicken — Restaurant in Lubbock

My husband ordered chicken strips & fries. The chicken was boiling hot & he couldn't even eat it with his fries. He said that the consistency of the chicken was stringy & there were holes down through the middle of the chicken. He's eaten loads of chicken strips from many different restaurants & if he complains about the chicken, it's got to be bad. There was no ketchup for the fries, only barbecue sauce. He had chicken strips from a restaurant a few days later, paid a lot less for the meal, & was actually able to enjoy the chicken with his fries. I ordered a salad with substitutions & it came out all wrong. It was corrected, but DEFINITELY NOT worth the price. Also, no vegan protein options for the salad. The only dressing was Ranch of course. I ordered a salad from the same restaurant that my husband got his chicken. The salad came with a variety of fruit, it had vegan protein as well, Italian dressing, & I got a whole lot more for way less money. It was quite lovely. In addition, I needed to use the restroom when we got to Big Chicken. The in use sign was visible in red. I checked several times & every single time it was the same thing. I was almost done eating my blah salad & I finally got to get into the restroom. They don't have proper soda fountain drinks--not even Dr. Pepper. My husband got root beer. Drove by Dave's at 11am and there was a line to the street so I went over to Big Chicken Shaq instead since I had not eaten there yet either. Small wait but was helped quickly. Order taker was very friendly and helpful.

Got the 5 tender combo with fries and the honey mustard and chipotle BBQ sauces. The food came out quickly and I was happy with the portion sizes. The tenders were plump and juicy and hot with a nice crispy crust. Sauces were very complimentary. I liked the fries but they were not hot. Free refills on the drink were nice.

Staff came by often to make sure everything was okay so yes, I could have said something about the fries and I'm sure they would have fixed it. However, I approach these reviews from what product is originally presented. Blame that on my previous years and years of being a mystery shopper! Lol

Definitely a 9 of 10 for the chicken, 5 for the fries, and easily a 10 for the service.

We stopped here for dinner around 6:30 on 10/9. We were warmly welcomed, and after a few minutes of perusing the menu, we placed our order and seated ourselves. The staff were kind and helpful, and even refilled our drinks while we ate. There were TVs everywhere, and a few arcade games too. We got the original big chicken combo with fries, some lemon pepper wings, the jalapeño slaw, and the mac and cheese. The sandwiches were fantastic. The chicken was expertly seasoned and perfectly cooked, the pickles brought in a nice zing, and the sauce really completed the experience. You just have to taste it to understand. The fries were fantastic! They were super crisp on the outside, but soft and pillowy on the inside! And seasoned wonderfully too. The slaw was the best I have had in a fast food restaurant. The wings were more lemon than pepper, which made them more sour than I would like, but they were juicy and cooked well. The mac and cheese was nothing too impressive.
