This restaurant had the potential to be a great "date night" spot for my husband and I, however, we will were not impressed. First, we were seated promptly, and the hostess was very friendly, however that is where the good things about this restaurant stop. We placed our order for two iced teas, two appetizers, and a Chocotini. Mind you, the table behind us, to the right of us, and in front of us are empty at this time. Approx. 15 minutes, after ordering our drinks and appetizers, we received our iced teas, at this time all three tables around us are being seated and ordering their appetizers/drinks, this is when we placed our order for two steaks. Approx. 15 minutes later (30 minutes after being seated) we received our appetizer.....BURNED! We did not send them back because after waiting 30 minutes for them, we were afraid that we would not get them back. Our waiter refilled my iced tea, and set it down directly in front of me with a LARGE FLY floating in the top of the tea. When I went to add the sweet-n-low to my tea, i noticed the large fly in my drink and asked the first waiter we saw to send our waiter back and explained the problem. About 20 minutes later (50 minutes after being seated) our waiter returned to check on the appetizers and see if we needed anything. I showed him the fly in my tea glass and asked for a new glass. Our waiter left with my glass, and about 10 minutes later, now 60 MINUTES into our meal, he returned to our table with a fresh glass of tea and my Chocotini (that i had ordered one hour ago). At this time I mention to my husband that all three tables around us now have their steaks, and two of them already have their bill. Our waiter returns, as says that our order is next up. We FINALLY received our steaks approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes after ordering and my steak that was supposed to be cooked WELL DONE was MEDIUM at best, and my husbands that was supposed to be MEDIUM was RARE at best. I sent the my steak back and asked for it to be cooked correctly. While I am waiting for my steak, I mention to my husband that all three tables that were seated after we were have now finished their meals, complete with dessert and left the restaurant and their are now new people at two of the tables. Finally my steak is brought back, STILL HORRIBLY UNDERCOOKED, i send it back again, and 20 minutes later I FINALLY receive a WELL DONE steak. Never once did anyone offer an apology, never once did a manager stop to check on us, never once did anyone offer to do anything since we had such a long wait and such a horrible meal. My husband and I DO NOT look for handouts or ask for things for free, but an offer sometimes go a VERY long way. If you want a good steak, good service, and a timely manner DO NOT GO TO TRIPLE J...
Read moreHonestly, this would have gotten 5 stars if the manager or whoever this woman was, wasn't so rude. We came here Saturday 6/12 around 7pm/8pm. We were a group of 4 with a call ahead under the name Lee. We were quoted a two hour wait, understandable since this place was right in the middle of all the pride events going on. We decided to wait our time out at rewind across the street. While there my girlfriend had quite a bit to drink. After a while we decided to go ahead and wait in the restaurant, the hostess informed us that we were still on the wait list but said we could also wait at the bar because it is full service. We went to the bar but were seated very shortly after. They had live music, and our server was the sweetest, I didn't get to see her name when she wrote it, but she was a short, blonde girl. Our food was awesome from the appetizers to the entrees. After a while, we were almost ready for our ticket, and my girlfriend turned into me and threw up. It was not a scene, nor were any customers bothered by this because none of them saw. She went to change her shirt in the bathroom, and I cleaned the floor and table. All that was left was for someone to disinfect the area of the carpet and clean up what i wasn't able to scoop up. I went to inform the manager that my girlfriend was not drinking on the premises because I did not want the manager to think the server had over-served my girlfriend. My girlfriend did not drink any alcohol at this establishment and I wanted to make it clear that the server was not to blame for the incident. Instead of asking if my girlfriend was okay, or if we needed anything, her response was "I'm just ready for y'all to leave." followed with a pretty disrespectful face and body motions. So after hearing that, I returned to my table and let the others know how the manager felt, it wasn't until we were on our way out that she decided to show some hospitality and offered iced water. She did apologize to the other members of our group, but not me, the person she was actually rude to. I'm not sure this managers name either, she was probably about 5'2 or 5'3, with long black hair pulled back into a ponytail. I have always had a good experience here...
Read moreI’m kinda on the bubble with this place. We’ve been a couple of times, and making a reservation is a must, otherwise you are going to be in for a long wait.
Very cool atmosphere, kind of a cool collection of old western/70’s steakhouse decor cover the walls of the place. Has a small bar area, and live music on most nights. The guy playing tonight (Scubba Steve) was very good. However, our table ended up near the stage area and it was loud enough that it was hard to have a conversation. Wasn’t his fault, it was just a proximity of the table to their sound gear. Maybe install some sound gear up higher to keep the ambiance without the volume level?
Our servers have been very friendly. The first time we went, service was a bit faster overall. However, tonight’s service was extremely slow. We ordered our drinks and some nachos, as we were all very hungry. It was nearly 40 minutes before the nachos showed up. The waiter said he talked to the manager about the issue, so we thought they might at least comp the appetizer due to the long wait time. Nope…. Charged full price, and never heard from that “manager.”
When the food finally arrived, it’s temperature was all over the place. Nachos were sent out cold. Ordered a burger cooked medium and it was more than rare. Small steak tips ordered medium were much more done than that.
Salads just did not have enough flavor. The Caesar needs more kick, and the house salads were just okay. Creamed corn was excellent with a bit of salt added. Their beer bread was also very good.
Why rate JJ’s 2 stars? Well… service time, price (not cheap), and lack of seasoning hurt this place in a real way. The location and atmosphere in the Depot District is good. But parking is also a pain when they are busy. Okay place to visit once in a while, but probably will not be on our...
