My girlfriend and I plus her family (overall a group of 8 people) stopped by this little bar after a day of skiing. It was our first time ever visiting, and I have to say. I will NEVER come back or recommend this place. The owner of the bar and server we had treated our entire family HORRIBLY. I don’t think we were even in the bar for 10 minutes. So now, my story begins.
We got a table at the bar, which was at full capacity. Because of this the adults went to the bar, and the kids (all of which are over the age of 25 years old) took a table seat. When the server came over and asked to take our order, we told him that the parents were ordering food and drinks for us since they had the credit card. He responded by saying “well that’s not how we do things here”. And walked away. Soon after, the parents came over and gave the kids the drinks they had ordered. Not even a minute later, the server storms over with the owner screaming at the kids asking who has and doesn’t have their ID on them. We weren’t sure what prompted this at all. I told them that I had my ID on me and proceeded to take it out. My girlfriend didn’t have hers and that she left it in the car. She even offered to go get it. but she also didn’t have a drink either. (I would also like to clarify there were toddlers and kids at this bar as well). Not even letting us get a word in the server ripped the drinks out of our hands, spilled one on my girlfriends dad and the owner proceeded to tell us to “get the hell out of her bar right now”. I was appalled by this. Nothing we did prompted hostility like this. I even handed my ID to her so she could verify our age. She told me that she didn’t give a damn about seeing my ID and to get out of her bar, and NEVER to come back again. She then removed me, my girlfriend, her two cousins, and the rest of our family from the bar. We didn’t even get refunded for the drinks we ordered and never finished or received.
Avoid this place at all costs. The owner was an immensely hostile and rude woman for no reason. We simply wanted an explanation, not get thrown out. Even other customers were shocked at how we were treated, one asked me what her problem was. The fact that they asked to see our ID’s then refused before kicking us...
Read moreMaybe it was the awesome Yelp reviews. Maybe it was the eight hours of hard skiing that got our appetites worked up. Maybe it was the euphoric air of wings and BBQ you could smell all the way down Okemo Mountain Road. I'm not sure what it was, but we seemed to be hypnotically drawn to Tom's Loft Tavern for some après ski food and drink before heading back to NY.
My friend and I split an appetizer and two sandwiches, and had more food in front of us than we could have ever imagined. The Thai Sticks are marinated in a curry sauce and grilled, served over lettuce with a chunky peanut sauce with just the right kick. Sticks were juicy throughout...for grilled chicken, as good as it gets!
My friend ordered the pastrami reuben and I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. Both were scrumptious, but her Reuben was definitely easier to pick up and eat, whereas mine was more of a fork and knife ordeal...thank goodness we grabbed utensils! Thankfully, we ordered our food to go (shoutout to Jeremy for getting our order out quickly so we could catch a ski bus back to NY!), because this place was PACKED right after the slopes closed at 4pm.
As other reviewers have noted, Tom's loft is very cramped inside, with lots of corridors and not a single large open room. The difference of 10-15 people on the main floor can transform this place from totally dead to completely jam-packed, so either go early and claim a table, or try to stop by during less busy times. You can't fault such an old, quaint building for being so small and cozy, but be warned, this is not built for crowds like a base lodge or anything.
Despite all this, the food was sublime, and even though Okemo's on-mountain food options are pretty decent, I'm glad that we waited till we were off-mountain for our main meal...it...
Read moreWorst experience at a bar ever! After ordering and purchasing drinks, the owner kicked my family out and told us to never come back. Essentially my family (all the age of 25 and older) sit up into different tables at the bar. The parents ordered the drinks for the younger kids since we were split up and didnt have money. The server came up to the table with a ton of hostility asking who has and doesn't have their ID. I said mine was in the car and I would go get it. My boyfriend had his and took it out to show them. That's when the server ripped the drinks out of all of our hands and told us to get out. I asked why we were being kicked out after JUST getting a seat. That's when the owner walked up to us and told us to get out and never come back and that our family isn't welcome in the bar anymore. We didn't receive a refund for the drinks we bought nor did we get to finish them. All 8 of us parents and kids were then removed from the bar only 10 minutes into arriving. They refused to even let my boyfriend show his ID when he offered it to them. For clarification, this bar also serves food and there were actual toddlers in...
