Totem poles in the United States represent a long, proud Native American culture. The Totem Pole Ski Shop on Routes 103 and 100 in Ludlow, Vermont in the shadow of Okemo Mountain Resort represents a long, proud ski culture preserved by father/son team Ken and Torin Tofferi and the ski shop staff. Ken has won skiing events since the early 1970s; Torin picked up the reins at a very young age. The staff is rounded out with like-minded and accomplished skiers and riders. This said is to guarantee your experience in the Totem Pole Ski Shop will be equal to mine. I tried out skis before I bought a pair only after giving Ken, Torin, and the staff feedback on stability and my sense of control. I have skied on them at least 10 days to find them perfect for me. I have not had them tuned yet, but when I do, the shop has state-of-the-art tuning tools to keep my investment current. The same was the case with the boots, i.e., tried some out, then bought the best fit for my feet and skiing ability, and have gone back for a few adjustments to my weird feet as I “broke them in”. The boot room walls are covered with certificates of all the boot fitters who work in the shop. The continued reminder in words and actions is “You bought the fit not the boots.” I found that to be true. Don’t think that the shop is full of ski and board techno-nerds. I have seen and bought stylish parkas and shirts. I have seen all kinds of styles in all kinds of ski and ride gear. Visit them next time you are in Ludlow; I am sure you will find something you can’t...
Read moreTotem pole ski shop is a genuine ski shop, very helpful and has a great atmosphere. I have been to other shops in VT and have not had an experience like I did with Totem Pole. I take all my friends here for rentals and purchases. - I ABSOLUTELY recommend this ski shop to anyone.
A family member referred me to a shop in VT that I was going to for everything I needed all the years prior to my experience with Totem. Every time I walked in this other shop I had a different experience, sometimes they were great while others were rude and rushed, the customer service was never consistent. I discovered Totem last winter and I couldn’t be any happier with the service I received. It was during one of the bigger snow storms and my skis I own just aren’t good in that type of snow, so I demoed from Totem on 2 separate occasions throughout the winter. Both times the skis that the guys selected for me were great, I loved the second pair of skis so much I ended up pre-ordering them for this year! Torin helped me with this process and was very patient, always there for my hundreds of questions and concerns I had for him in regards to my new purchase.
At totem pole the second you walk in the door someone acknowledges you with a simple hello and offers to help. The ladies in the front are always pleasant and are willing to help you with any of the clothing, while the gentlemen in the ski department (rentals and tuning) are knowledgeable and helpful.*FIVE STARS all day for Totem...
Read moreRental reservations are not actual reservations.
Put in a reservation for rental gear through their website two days ahead of time. When I showed up the day of to pick up, they told me they were all out of gear. They then explained to me that their reservationas are not actual reservations and they just give out gear on a 'first come, first serve' basis. Which of course completely defeats the purpose of a reservation system. The employees are also aware of this problem (did not sound like it was the first time this has happened) but whoever is in charge does not seem to think that they should change the system. They reimbursed the rental cost but obviously that doesn't make up for travel and lift ticket. After talking to the manager they at least called around and found another shop that was able to provide me with rental gear. I will look for other places to rent from if I make it to...
