I am reworking my review of Ray's after three years. My husband, our grandson Eedan and I are eating at Ray's. I have eaten here frequently, since I was a child. The food is typically good, with few disappointing experiences over 45 years. My husband and I both ordered Ray's Specials. My grandson and husband both ordered tater toys with chili and cheese. I ordered onion rings, and my grandson ordered a hamburger. The food is delicious! Ray's is decorated in a cute manner, but a lot of the tables need cleaning of crumbs and grease during lunch rush. One worker is cleaning tables, in between taking orders. She needs help taking care of the front. The large, free parking lot is in desperate need of repairs. It's very rough. The restrooms are clean and stocked. I recommend Ray's! Note to visitors: Never, ever order Lufkin tap water anywhere. It's the worst tasting water, you will drink in the USA.

Update I decided to try it again, as the food is good. The water, however, 7 months later is still the worst water I've had a restaurant in recent memory, but the food is still good. I'll be back, but I've learned not to trust the water. We got another double bacon cheeseburger and a hotdog, with tots and onion rings. The food was all good; well recommended. ---- Bacon cheeseburger and chicken strips were very good. The water was not. I suggest a filter for water. I would not stop there again for my break particularly because of the water. I would gladly eat the food again, but if I'm thirsty, I'll stop somewhere else, on my trips through. I recommend a water filter; it'll make a huge difference.

This evening I was excited to finally go eat at this place that was surely hype up by their own employees on social media. I’m one who doesn’t take to social media but my experience at this restraunt has led me on this crusade to let people really know what goes on in this place. The wait was around 30 minutes which was fine. After being seated our waitress took our drink order as well as the appetizer. It took a while to get the drinks which again was fine after all it was a little busy. After 20 minutes we received our drinks but no appetizers. We New our food was going to take a while but an appetizer. Well one hour went bye and yet no appetizers. We could see our ticket hanging all alone on the cable that the cooks used to go in order. Tickets came and went but our just floated there as time went bye. We could hear the manager disrespecting the waitresses. He made sure he was outspoken to make sure everyone New he was the boss. We finally decided that enough was enough. One hour has gone bye and customers were coming and going and yet our ticket just hanging there. the mood got death and quite when you could hear the manager say ok let’s start this order. You could hear a pin drop when we all look at each other with our jaws drop as we finally knew this place was a joke. We all stood up to pay for our drinks and to let the manger know that the service was unexceptable. This person has no experience in management. He should of apologize instead he yells at his cooks so that everyone in the restaurant could hear. He said that big order y’all just dropp go ahead and throw it away. They just cancelled. Another customer came up to us and said she was having the same experience and was going to give them a bad review as well she also said that manager had no business being a manager. I will tell at least 10 people tomorrow about my experience at this restaurant and hopefully they can tell their friends that the 4.5 Star there rated is a big joke. I will not visit this restaurant ever again unless it’s under...

I've lived in Lufkin for 10 years and this was my first time eating at Ray's, and I'm very sorry I missed out all these years. We went on a Saturday evening and it was packed so I prepared for it to take a while to get service. Within seconds of being in line to order a guy came up with an " old timey" order pad, we placed our order, and a couple of minutes later was at the register to pay. While waiting on our food I had a chance to really check out the place. The red "leather" seats and booths make me think of what a 50's diner would've possibly looked like, and on the walls seemed to be a lot of motorcycle and car type of things (street signs, license plates, old pictures, etc), I did only view a small section. I loved the decor and it seemed very clean, which was surprising because of how busy they were. Also, they are still an actual "Drive-In" with numerous stalls that were hopping the whole time we were there which was cool. Our food was ready in probably 7 minutes tops. I ordered the jalapeno ranch burger and onion rings which was amazing! Messy, but the best burger I've ever eaten. The burger was huge. The only way I got close to finishing it was because I only able to eat a couple of onion rings, which were also delicious. My husband had the steak finger basket which he said was delicious. Our whole experience was wonderful, and we couldn't have received faster, friendlier service anywhere else in town. There's a reason they've been open this long. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend Ray's to anyone looking for (I guess) fast food type foods that are homemade with a...

Sat in for car service. On front row. Directly in front door, 2 waitresses, they kept coming towards our car, but then passed us by. NEVER waited on us....we left after 8 minutes...waitresses were standing there looking at us....we were directly in front AND center, MAKING EYE CONTACT..when.we started to leave and drive away THEN they were: ",oh, we were coming to help you".. Called manager who was apologetic.

On visit prior to that, i sat in my car, for 20 minutes. Ordered a burger with Nothing on it but meat, cheese ,and mustard .. No fries...and no drink.... .kept WAITING...car next to me got their tray, but after a couple of moments ,signalled for waitress...they had made an error. And that customer said she had wrong order. That she had been given a burger with nothing on it, snd no fries and no drink. I'm watching this transaction...i spoke to the customer who.said that that order was incorrect, simply a bare burger and i responded that that must have been mine...I saw the tray go back in, watching it closely, and within. a minute ...it Come back out to my car!. I half jokingly asked if this.was the same burger that had been in at least 3 peoples hands, and she silently NODDED YES! I said I did not want that burger that had been touched by everybody. .snd she said "no,I was just joking".. of course, i said i was not going to eat something questionable i had waited on now for 30 minutes. Left, went across street to whataburger where I immediately received what i assumed was my correct order.

RAY'S service has...
