I told my wife that people always talked about how good Juan's Mexican Food was and we ought to try it sometime. We've probably been by here 100's of times, but have never stopped. It always seems to have a lot of cars here for lunch and dinner! Well, she got off of work early today and we were looking for a different place to have lunch. Your pretty limited in Buna, Silsbee, Kountze, Jasper, and even Lumberton. We've have been to most all of the restaurants several times in this area without going to Beaumont or somewhere else. Well, today was the day! I recommended Juan's after we talked about all the others that we frequented. So Juan's it was! It was the lunch crowd and people had just left opening up a booth once it was cleaned off. We were promptly seated and the nice young lady brought menu's and took our drink orders. I had sweet tea, the wifey ordered water. We both glanced through the menu's and I kept looking at the Juan's Special, or the taco dinner with three tacos and rice and beans. Wasn't sure what the wife had in mind. When the waitress came back and was ready to take our order, the wife antes up and orders the Beef Fajitas at which point I was totally derailed!! I looked at her, them back at the waitress and told her I'd have the same! The wifey looks at me and says, that's not tacos!!! I said yeah, but it sounded good so I thought I'd give them a try too! We also decided to order a large queso as she thought the salsa was kind of hot! I myself thought it was just right with a little bit of a bite! She brought the Queso back to the table very quick and it was pretty good! She left and came right back with our fajita's!!! I thought that was really quick! But then we both noticed they were served on white China plates!!! What!!! We're used to Fajita's being brought to the table of hot sizzling little cast iron serving platters or skillets! I got to looking and the wife sees the same thing I do, where's the Fajitas??? There are pieces of Fajita meat cut up and mixed in with grilled onions and not grilled bell pepper slices. Actually it was more grilled onions than meat!!! It was served with three flour tortillas and a little more than a teaspoon of sour cream and guacamole. Also a small about of pico and one good serving each of rice and beans! I got one of my hot for tortillas and put a scoop of refried beans down the middle along with some rice and added some of the fajita meat (beef) and grilled onions to my tortilla. It was at this point the fajita meat looked more like small chopped slices of the real thing! After being built up reading about how great Juan's was we both felt a little let down. So all I can really say if you think Juan's is good, go try a "REAL" quality Mexican Food Restaurant! You won't go back. I don't really EVER leave a review like this, but I'm sorry, this doesn't really rate any higher.

I don't like long posts so here it is in a nutshell. * First time a week ago delish, HOT, affordable, although the salsa is more like a thinned out tomato sauce. I'm sure the side item of sour cream I ordered was scooped from a small melon baller. *2nd visit today, 10/2/24, about 12:15 pm lunchtime, food was just lukewarm. The restaurant was not busy at all at this time So disappointed. I will give it another try.

Their chips and hot sauce is SUPERB, guacamole was also really good. Their customer service is great and the food was ready when they said it would be ready, hot and fresh. The ONLY reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the tamales were a little smashed and some didnt even fill the husks all the way. But they still tasted GREAT! All in all, I WILL be back.

So, solely based on reviews and the fact that it said they had homemade tamales is why we stopped in for lunch. This is the definition of non hispanic tex mex, and the food is seriously lacking. The tamales need more seasoning, they need more meat, they need to be bigger and to be actually made from masa, not sure what they used but that wasn't it. The only thing that saved the tamales was the gravy and cheese, which is not authentic Mexican at all. It was literally brown gravy and cheese. The chicken enchiladas that I had the tortillas could have actually been cooked more. They were almost translucent. The only reason why the dish had flavor was because of the Pico de Gallo and the cilantro on top. The beans definitely come from a can, and the rice probably came from a package. I'm not sure how they can say anything is homemade at all. And for people saying that this food is great. They need to get out and explore more, maybe go to mexico and have authentic mexican food, because this is not it. Needless to say, we won't be returning. I hope Silsbee and Lumberton have better food to offer than this! Very...

Went based on the reviews. First time visit - walked in, seat yourself, very few tables to choose from (waiting to be bussed or right next to the register). Chose one and there were food and paper napkins under the table. Someone before us was a very messy eater. Moved them out of the way. Servers were super nice. Ordered a guacamole appetizer and she said there are only two scoops on the large, is that okay? Yes, and it would have been if they hadn't been melon ball scoops! Real sized scoops people! Red sauce was meh, just tomato sauce with spice. Hubby had chicken enchiladas.which he said were very good. I had 3 crispy tacos, they were just okay. IMHO, Dairy Queen tacos are much better. I did pay an extra $1 for charro/ baracho beans and they were delicious. Also .89 for some fresh chopped jalapeños which in my opinion should be like chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant. Now back to those Itty, bitty scoops of guacamole, unfortunately it was a bad avocado and it tasted awful so did not eat and they did remove from bill as expected. Anyway, that was our experience and at best I would...
