Jan2024 update: Changing my rating from one-star to five-stars! Skyline now offers a separate vegetarian friendly menu on demand. YAY!!! - The vegetarian Bánh mì sandwich is very good - You can also combine three of the sides for a vegetarian meal. - The is a yummy pumpkin risotto with mushrooms - a couple of salad options Thank you Skyline for being considerate of dietary restrictions. Please let people know of the vegetarian menu, I wouldn’t know if my friend didn’t tell me. Maybe the wait staff can be trained to tell everyone about it or you could include signage? The manager is very sweet and comes to every table to greet customers. Thank you for caring for your vegetarian patrons! ………………. Original comment Nice location and I really wanted to like this place. We had vegetarians in my group, and there wasn't a single thing on the menu that was vegetarian other than a couple of appetizers. We shared the vegetarian appetizers, which were ok. There wasn't a single entree that didn't have meat. All that was offered was taking the meat off the salad (no difference in the price, however). We got a clear message that the restaurant doesn't care about vegan/vegetarian patrons. Message received.

Last night was our first and last time at Skyline. We arrived with no reservation (we are not accustomed to having to making reservations at rooftop bars, it’s normally first come, first served), but were told we could take the lounge chairs beneath the umbrella as soon as a group got up. After settling in beneath the umbrella, it was a hot afternoon, an old host walks up and begins moving our umbrella. To my inquiry, he replied that a group of ladies had requested the umbrella. I looked up to find the same group that had been sitting beneath it were now sitting at a table beneath the covering, but apparently wanted our umbrella to keep setting sun off them. We weren’t asked if that was okay. I told the host “sure, we’ll just bake in the sun then,” and his only reply was “sorry.” And ironically, he dragged that heavy umbrella across the patio, got it set up, and it wasn’t keeping any of the afternoon sun off the people who were already sitting under the covering! The food was okay. The drinks were subpar (you should be able to taste some rum in a rum runner). I will not be recommending this place to future guests.

Located on the rooftop of the newly-opened Virginian hotel in the heart of downtown Lynchburg, Skyline is a chic little gem that gives a sophisticated and partially-panoramic view of the surrounding buildings. The vibes, the view and the food were all amazing. Skyline has an incredibly extensive wine and cocktail selection taking up 1/2 of their entire menu. We only got a margherita flatbread and their chicken tenders, but my goodness did they make some good flatbread and chicken tenders... the ingredients tasted excellent on the flatbread and the seasoning on the flaky and juicy chicken was astounding. My only issue? Price. Their cheapest entree is $18. With tax it was over $12... for three chicken tenders. They were really quite good, but four dollars for a seasoned cut of chicken, breaded and fried? The flatbread was only a couple of dollars less but it still was only 6 large bites. Overall, beautiful place with delicious food, but the prices make it an occasion that is best-served as a treat when compared to the rest of Lynchburg's price points.

First off there was 2 Flies that landed on our faces, food, and drink the whole time. We came with 14 people. We'd called to make a reservation but they said they wouldn't do that. So we had to wait for close to an hour at the restaurant to get a table. They split us into 2 tables, which wasn't so bad... Until one waitress assigned to one of our tables refused to serve us and told the other waiter he had to do it.

The hostess sat us at the tables before they had been cleaned. There's was still dirty glasses and smeared food on the tables. The waiter tried to argue with us that the dirty glasses were ours.

We asked for the whole table to get water. He came, 2 waters at a time, from the kitchen to our table, and insisted on asking each person if they wanted water.

After water was finally served, which took maybe 12 minutes, we asked if we could order. We got 4 orders in and then one person in our party asked for an orange juice. The waiter all but tossed his order pad down and yelled, "DOES ANYONE ELSE WANT SOMETHING TO DRINK!!?" Then he huffed and walked to the kitchen for 5 minutes to get 1 orange juice before coming back to continue taking orders.

Our food was served sporadically. We got 4 entrées, then 10 minutes later 2 more, then we watched as other tables who ordered after us, and were even seated way after us, got their entire tables served entrées, and we proceeded to wait.

One of the last orders up for us was an Eggs Benedict. When the egg was cut into is was hard boiled. I've posted a picture of it so you can see. We called the waiter over, showed him the egg and he proceeded to low key argue with the guest that usually the eggs are a little bit more runny. The after the argument was over he said he'd get a new order in and walked away, leaving the food on the table.

I ordered the biscuits and gravy. They put raw arugula on top.

I believe in tipping your waiter. I used to wait tables for a living. I would have given this guy $0 if he hadn't put the gratuity in the bill. When I questioned him he said that's just their policy to always charge gratuity.

I hope this place closes! It was the worst experience I've had eating out in a...

The atmosphere is solid but diminished as time went on throughout the experience bc culture creates atmosphere and the culture of this restaurant needs work. It starts with the Management team, down to the server. Some highlights of our experience include a server (Christy) that was short and seemed like she didn’t want to be there. My wife ordered a Rose that was delivered flat and didn’t taste right. I got up to grab her bc she didn’t come around and check on us for so long. She proceeded to tell me that she didn’t know how that could be bc she poured it from a can herself. I was very polite when mentioning to her.

Food was ok at best throughout the night. Water refills were non existent unless prompted. Manager checked on us earlier in the night and it was hard to hold my tongue but I did for the greater good of the party. I was hopeful our experience would get better with all of the friends we hadn’t seen in a year. It didn’t get better! She continued to serve us with a very short attitude (again as if she was annoyed that we were there the day before Christmas Eve - prepared to tip her very well if the experience was what anyone should expect). The night was capped off by the Manager approaching us as we were finishing our drinks at 10:19 pm (they close at 10 pm) stating that if “he didn’t get home his wife would think he has a girlfriend.” Perfect we will leave buddy. I’d like to think we prob had 5-10 minutes of catch up chit chat and finishing our drinks and we were out of there. As we approached the elevator he started to bring up Christmas shopping and other stuff in an effort to make up for the unprofessional comments at the end of the night. We were never even offered desert. All good. We won’t...

I booked a reservation ( with a young lady, I wish I got her name) on May 1st for May 4th with a party of 5 (over the phone). This was a special occasion which was my graduation and my family and I came all the way from Florida. I called the restaurant earlier the afternoon of my reservation and asked the young lady if there were a later slot and she moved my reservation to 7pm. I got there and they say I never made a reservation! Which I have 4 witnesses plus my call log showing I spoke with someone at the restaurant. The manager came out and was very condescending, this was racial discrimination at it’s finest, he did not really allow us to speak. He stated that none of the women spoke to anyone on the phone that day, which is not the truth. My name and information was in your system but there is no reservation when infact I confirmed my reservation the same day at around 4 pm. He was not attempting to listen to us or the evidence we shown that we in fact spoke with someone. We were treated like peasants, and “the manager “ was rude while he stated there is no proof that we booked, he then said the restaurant is full ( he did not try to accommodate us). All other restaurants were booked up due to graduation in Virginia. I value honesty and this needs to be looked into, this spoiled my big day, I was very hurt. I made my reservation days before, how was my info in your system if you are stating that I did not make a reservation. Your workers should take accountability. Discrimination based on race and talking down to one based on perceived status is not right. I Pray no one else has to face what we went...
