If there was a negative star review this place would get a NEGATIVE 5 STAR RATING.. It's actually wrong that I have to give one star it's Not worthy of a star.. Believe me.. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY AT THIS PLACE . They don't appreciate your business.. The employees and manager are a bunch of jerkoffs . They take the store's steady business for granted . But they LOST A STEADY CUSTOMER for sure with me and I will ensure my family members who go to this place stop going as well.. Today I went there as I do every morning and ordered a bagel with butter and other sandwiches for my family.. when I went to pull the bagel out of the bag the butter spilled from the bag as well as the wrapping the bagel was in onto my clothes . Because they loaded it with five pounds of butter on a very hot toasted bagel.. When I went back to let them know what happened . the cashier laughed about it and when I asked for the manager who apparently prepared the bagel she was arrogant and very unresponsive when I explained what happened No apology no nothing . She walked away as if to say go F###k yourself . Who knows She's probably the owner as well... I will tell everyone I know not to go this place . They should be grateful they have steady customers but really don't deserve them.. It's a shame because it's a nice place from the outside and inside until you deal with the garbage they have working there.. They're Shameful and reflect poor representation of the business and of ownership.. FIVE THUMBS DOWN !!
I sometimes go to Ridge Road Bagels up the street which is much more inviting for customers . The employees at Ridge Road Bagels are very friendly and they seem to really appreciate their customers. They seem to treat everyone as if they are the most important customer . Don't waste your time or money at Bob"s Deli in Lyndhurst . They really aren't worth it unless you don't care about the way you're treated.. The place needs a serious change of management and they really need to hire people who care about the image of the business.. Not people who are there simply...
Read moreI come to Bob’s Bagels often. The food is good, but the service is pretty lousy. The girl at the register rarely speaks. I ordered a coffee and didn’t realize it was self-serve. She gave me my change and then I stood waiting to get my coffee. She didn’t say anything—just looked at me. When I asked, “My coffee?” she pointed behind me and said, “Over there.”
This happens often. It’s always busy, and the place is disorganized. I once ordered a dozen bagels, paid, and was told to go stand by the bagels. It’s shocking how many employees behind the counter just look at you and say nothing. No “May I help you?”, “Be right with you,” or even “Are you being helped?”—nothing.
This happens every time I visit, and I find it very unprofessional across all employees. Honestly, I hesitate to go in because I know I’ll be standing around waiting at least 10 minutes for my dozen bagels. It’s frustrating to be looked at directly and not even spoken to.
Not to mention, the girl at the register seems more concerned with how she looks or singing along to the music playing than actually providing good service.
This is the closest bagel shop after church, and my grandma loves fresh bagels. If it weren’t for her, I’d stop going.
Just a tip to management: please take more control over customer service. I often see customers looking confused or waiting around for their orders.
Ugh. I just really hate unpleasant service—when no one is polite, barely speaks, or even makes eye contact when handing you change or directing you. I worked in food service during my teenage years, and I now run my own business. It makes a huge difference when employees are welcoming and pleasant.
Just some advice from a customer...
Read moreThe service at this place is the worst I've experienced at any breakfast, or actually, any food service place in the area. Since it's the only bagel spot between my house and rt. 3, I've been in about 6 times, I'm embarrassed to say, and each time is worse than the last. My last encounter was the final straw. My husband and I waited 16 minutes for 2 whole wheat everything bagels toasted with cream cheese. There were (including us), 4 people in there and 5 people working behind the counter. We got (after the wait), 2 UNtoasted whole wheat bagels (not everything) with cream cheese. The time before this, my order came to $5.03, and the girl behind the counter insisted I go out to my car for the 3 pennies (unheard of). My order is almost NEVER correct, I am usually waiting a ridiculously long time, and it's generally always a frustrating, infuriating, or disappointing experience. One time that particularly stands out to me, is recently going in and watching the 3 people behind the counter working and the boss/owner/whoever sitting at one of the tables watching them work, and watching me wait at the register to place my order. He watched my for about a minute or 2, then barked at his (super busy) staff to be more attentive to people waiting... Super unorganized, poorly managed, and just absolutely NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE to go in, especially for mediocre bagels AND TERRIBLE COFFEE that tastes like it's got metal steeping in it.
BAGEL HOUSE in KEARNY is fast, has delicious bagels, and is staffed by efficient and friendly people. Do NOT go to Bob's- you will be...
