Special Brews — Restaurant in Mill Creek

The beer is decent but the atmosphere could be better. Walked in around noon and folks at the bar were playing a game and the barkeep was involved. I didn’t care for that impression when I walked in. Has a neighborhood feel to it which is not always the most welcoming to non regulars but I have seen it work OK elsewhere and got beyond that. One hole toilet in the back is clean but only 1 in a bar is subpar. Barkeep knew his beers but what I like is coffee and chocolate tones in a dark beer had 1 option. I like the alcohol content listed on the board so you can do the trade offs. The bar height tables are small and the stools are not that comfortable for me. I never leave reviews. The blond bartender was talking negatively about her customers to other customers, maybe more regular customers or perhaps her friends. Either way, highly unprofessional and off putting. According to another customer it's just the way she acts and is likely "stoned". She seems to favor certain people. I think one may have even been her boyfriend or relative that she kept going outside with and was sitting at the bar. We likely won't be back. Also what's up with the obnoxious techno club music in what seems is supposed to be a chill bar. Was hoping to have a local business to support on a regular basis but I don't think I can bring colleagues here. Doesn't seem to be a very diverse crowd or welcoming...

Special Brews is a special place for beer and cider lovers. They offer beers on top, mostly IPAs, a huge selection of worldly beers and a couple TVs to enjoy sports. My first visit to brew houses I personally like to order flights so I can sample a variety of their selections. You can purchase a beer or cider and drink it onsite but you have to pay a couple bucks for them to open the bottle. Service is pretty fast at the bar and they took the time to answer my many questions. I’m sure this local brew house has some loyal regular customers.
