You know this place is REALLY GOOD because a ton of local Koreans know about this place and frequently eat here.
This place is a hidden gem!!!! Best Chinese/Korean food!!!! The restaurant is very small with limited table to sit down and eat. It can get extremely busy and crowded full of people either waiting to be seated next or waiting to pick up their food. I've only seen the one Chinese woman (FYI she also speaks in Korean), she does everything in the restaurant....all by herself!!! And it's insane how busy it can get here. This restaurant has the best value with huge portion sizes, and the tastiest Chinese Korean restaurant in Snohomish county.
If you’re new at eating Chinese/Korean and want to know what to order.... Here’s what I order:
jja jang meun aka Black Bean Noodles
kkang pungi aka Spicy marinated chicken wings (Make sure to Order this with BONE IN, & NOT boneless
I highly recommend calling in your order if you’re wanting to drop in and pick up some food. You’ll thank me for this tip because otherwise it can get crazy busy here (even if it doesn’t look like it from the outside, it’s usually humming with people coming in and out all day. So order your food ahead of time and...
Read moretl;dr - Legit jjajangmyeon at a good price.
I lived in Korea for years around 20 years ago and the jjajangmyeon here tastes like it came out of a time capsule from that era. I've visited Korea many times over the years since, and jjajangmyeon seems to have become sweeter with smaller portions, or trendy and too expensive. However, this place still serves a savory, massive portion at a good price replete with yellow pickled daikon, raw white onion shards, and scissors on the side.
Same story with the tangsuyuk - good portion at a fair price and with a balance between the sweet and sour that hits just right for me.
To be clear, this is not fancy food. This is the jjajangmyeon that helped cash-strapped students get through school; the jjajangmyeon that construction workers eat; the jjajangmyeon that was delivered by a reckless moped driving on sidewalks right to my front door back in 2002, no delivery fee or tip.... This is cheap comfort food, so set your expectations properly, loosen your...
Read moreThe only reason this isn’t a 1 Star is because the food was excellent. The service, however, was probably some of the worst I’ve had. The woman who waits on the tables seemed to be aggravated with my existence. I tried to ask her if I could make a combo out of some of the menu items and she straight up walked away while I was talking and got a different menu and threw it on the table and walked away again. Once she came back, I tried to make my question more specific, and she cut me off and turned away from me to get something from another table. I settled on something else to eat, and before I could ask to substitute my white rice with fried rice, she cut me off, took my boyfriend’s order and then tried to walk away as fast as she could. Further, seeing as we were the only white people in the restaurant, it was pretty comical that we were the only table she gave just forks to and no chop sticks. I would love to come back here for the food, but it sucks to feel like a nuisance to...
