My son and I stopped by last night and sat outside as the weather was phenomenal. We decided the steak burrito and the taco dinner were calling to us. Sharing both plates was not on the menu but a part of our plan... Both selections were very tasty! My son reminded me that I used to pile he and his sister in the bike trailer, while keeping an eye on his other sister riding her bike to ride there for lunch. Not only did he make me feel old(ish) but also surprised we were able to make the (about) 1mile ride there as little as they were. We've enjoyed going to La Cabanita since Ralphy and his dad were tending to the customers and miss them both. Very good food and quick service.

It's alright. Although the food tastes good, it's not entirely authentic. My milanesa came out good, though a bit soggy with melted cheese on top for some reason. The salad was underneath it all so by the time I started eating, it was partially cooked from the heat. Beans were highly puréed so I suspect they may have been canned. Gorditas appear fried or partially fried and again, the lettuce was cooked from the heat. Prices were good so if you just want something semi authentic this is a good choice. Great service though!!

Amazingly tasty dish!! This is Chilaquiles. It’s only $8.75 and can definitely feed two people! And comes with 2 or 3 eggs (forgot if it’s was 2 or 3). Choices of green or red spice. I always take the red spice. Probably the spiciest dish I have ever had in my life by incredibly tasty! I always drive 20-25 minutes from Chicago to eat this. Worth it!! 👌

The food is good from here. They don’t give much rice and beans with the dinners, but the food itself is good.

The reason for my rating is because we tried to order catering from them. We inquired about 3 weeks in advance, but we checked the website for their catering menu about a week earlier. When we asked them about it in person, they couldn’t give us a solid answer about what they did offer. They only told us that they offered a “Taco Bar” and what it came with, but there weren’t any other catering options. According to them, the catering menu on their website was incorrect and they didn’t have any updated versions of their catering menu in the restaurant to show to us.

We decided that it was the most cost efficient, so I ended up calling back a week and a half in advance to confirm the options. I called them on Monday to order catering for the party on Saturday. The woman on the phone, Lorraine, told me that she would take down my name, phone number, and order request but that because they were in the middle of a dinner rush, she would have to call us back the next day.

The next day came and she didn’t call. I gave her the benefit of the doubt that maybe they had gotten busy again. Wednesday came around and we called again. Lorraine told us that she would call us back yet again because the restaurant was too busy and she didn’t have time to discuss. Thursday came around and still no call. Finally today, Friday, we decided to go in-person to not only order but pay for the order.

When we got there the man at the counter, named Hector, took down my information again and said they would call us back. No call. We called them back to get an answer about the catering. Hector told us that Lorraine was not answering her phone and that she would be who would handle catering. We ended up just foregoing this restaurant and chose another local Mexican restaurant to handle our order. Thankfully, the other restaurant was able to handle our catering order last minute.

Their food is delicious but their customer service and catering service is not so great. I am extremely bummed that it happened this way because I was very excited to have good food at the party! If they couldn’t fulfill the catering order for any reason, there was plenty of opportunities to let us know. We were forced to make a last minute decision to go elsewhere because their communication...

I just can't recommend.

As to food quality, the food is extremely bland like salt and pepper is missing...basic stuff. Rice, bland. Beans, bland. Salsa verde, bland and almost like soup, no tomatillos.

Let's talk nachos. I knew it was a fail when I saw the liquid yellow cheese they poured on top. What happened to queso blanco/chihuahua cheese? The guac on the nachos at $10.99 was a tablespoon of brown...seriously it was barely green when we got it home.

@$13.99 for one bland tasting chile relleno....no, just no. I was sooo disappointed in the flavors of everything. Cocula on La Grange road is gonna cost you an arm and a leg these days, but you're gonna walk away every single time singing their praises. And having gone there consistently for over 10 years, we've NEVER found evidence of a less than hygenic environment, they're constantly cleaning so you know the place is immaculate. But I digress.

And to top everything off.....a hair, in my food? NO, just NO! Never again.

Just everything here taste-wise is toned down for the bland palate. It's not authentic. Authentic Mexican restaurants don't use liquid yellow stuff on nachos or automatically add ground mystery meat on top.

Sorry, y'all should do better. Ooops! I forgot to say. The one thing that my husband said was OK was the burrito. He always orders just a burrito when we're trying a new place. Its safer he said. But still, he got an upset stomach after learning...

Rude service! They are packed & most customers were taking take out & sitting in seats. Place is very small! I also have a service animal certified through the state of IL. No service animal is supposed to be rejected out of any establishment!! By Law!!! If you have a service animal..I would highly advise not to even go here!! They reject you right away! Don't care if you have documentation..the service animal tags or certification letter/ID! Ignorant employees & woman is allergic to dogs.. what an excuse!!.. Still doesn't give you the right to reject an individual/ citizen, service due to their impairment/disability & have a service animal! Than she doesn't need to be my server! Another waitress could have had my table with my family! They will not get anymore money from me! There are better places who don't reject service animals & they actually follow the LAW! This is so sad that I had to...
