God. Where to even begin. The idiots that made this skatepark weren't, aren't, and never will be skaters. Therefore, they know nothing about skateparks. Gravel surrounding the half pipe; if you can even call it a half pipe. The rail is essentially unskatable (really curved, and too high for everyone but the most accomplished skater), the boxes are weirdly set up so they're in the way of everything. The wallride is really steep, the coping on it and the boxes is really weird and completely unskatable. During the summer, all the kids come from the splash pad to run up and down the obstacles, making the ramps wet; and you get snaked all the time. The parents see no problem with this, and they just yell at you for trying to skate it. The worst thing is the material they made it out of. It's like made of clay! To add insult to injury, the makers claim that all the local skaters love it, which is just flat out wrong. And, it's hella small. Seriously, I wouldn't even call this...
Read moreVery wonderful park, a great playground and walking path. My only gripe is the metal picnic tables could use some minor maintenance around them. That being said, there's a lot of space here, and it's right in downtown La Grange. There's quite a few slides, climbing areas, interactive bits, and even a kiddie table. There are swings as well, in various sizes. They're very sturdy! The walking path is clean and surrounds a large open grassy field. Along the path is several exercise machines free for the public to use. There's soccer goals set up, a baseball field, and a skate park! Lots to do, seating is plenty if you want to chill otherwise. Fun bonus for Pokemon Go players: There's a pokestop and gym here. Things don't seem to move through the gym fast, either. Overall, a very wonderful park very close to Downtown La Grange. Wide open area, clean, well maintained park. Worth a visit to enjoy what Gordon Park...
Read morebeware This skate park is full of problems. Nestled inconveniently next to a play ground and water park, this "skate dot" skate park is the perfect avenue for children and skaters to collide and get hurt. I have seen children and skaters collide on multiple occasions. The designers of Gordon Park decided to make a "skate park" the only convenient path from the parking lot to adjacent child water spay area and playground. While there are small signs stating that the "skatepark is NOT a pathway", it is largely ignored. This skate park is also littered with small rocks that get kicked onto skating surfaces, a dangerous low lying fence inches from skate features and an insufficient skate able space for the large amount of athletes that choose to skate the park. I would hope that city officials wake up and enclose the skate park to pedestrians as well as enlarge the skate park to give skaters the space...
