I was getting my oil changed around the corner and took a walk around the area. Ran into this place and decided to stop in. I’ve never been here before and thought it would be great to review their tacos since they have a decent google rating. I ordered a steak, chicken, and ground beef taco with only onion, cilantro and cheese to actually taste the meat. I didn’t want any additional condiments overpowering the protein. The steak was seasoned and the chicken taco was subpar. Overall the steak taco tasted better than the chicken. Not bad, but I’ve tasted better. Now let’s get to the ground beef taco…it looked like mushed cat food! It was absolutely horrible and I couldn’t even finish it. The ground beef they are using is bottom of the barrel beef for sure. I honestly don’t know if they should classify it as ground beef. I also order a chicken tostada with no beans.. this was a typical tostada…nothing fancy but overpriced for sure. Would this be my first place to stop for a quick bite? Maybe not..taco stop down the street is better. Hopefully they’ll change the cat food (ground beef) recipe. I can’t rate the service really because it was typical, placed our order with the server, she brought the food out and never checked on us again. I went to the register to pay and that was it. Customer service has actually went down the drain since Covid. Giving 3 stars for the food because I am feeling...
Read moreThis was my first time at Taco Azteca, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting muc, just wanted something quick and satisfying. But man, I was seriously impressed. This place completely blew past what I thought I was getting into.
I ordered four tacos total: two asada and two barbacoa. First off, the smell that hit me when they handed over the tray already had me excited. These aren’t the kind of tacos that need any dressing up, the meat speaks for itself. The asada was super tender, not chewy or dry like some places do it, and had this nice grilled, slightly smoky flavor. But the barbacoa? That’s where it’s at. Juicy, rich, and it basically melted the second it hit my tongue. I almost went back for two more, not gonna lie.
Their salsa deserves a shoutout too, it’s got a good kick without being overkill, and somehow it tied everything together perfectly. I could taste the lime, the spice, and a little bit of that roasted chile flavor. I ended up pouring it over everything, even though the tacos didn’t need it.
The vibe of the place is super casual. It’s nothing fancy, but that’s kind of what I liked. Counter service was quick, friendly, and chill. I think I waited maybe five minutes, tops.
Bottom line, if you’re into flavorful, no-nonsense tacos that are clearly made with love, this spot hits the mark....
Read moreThe food here is good. It's a nice local spot with authentic Mexican food. I got the steak taco dinner which comes with rice and beans. The seasoning on the steak was great. These were the kind of tacos where you don't need salsa to boost up the flavor. The meat was seasoned very well. They offer a mild green salsa and a hot red salsa. I got the green. It was still a little hot, but not to bad and it was pretty tasty. The tacos were topped with the traditional cilantro and onions. The steak tacos were near perfection. They didn't hold back on the portioning of the meat either. Each taco had a generous amount of steak. I also got one carnitas taco. It was good, but not nearly as good as the steak. The rice and beans were flavorful. Nothing magical. Pretty standard, but good overall. The portioning of the beans was a bit skimpy. I wish they would have filled the small section on the container completely. However when I consider the overall value for what I received ($12.99 for the meal, no drink is included--at least not when getting it to go) I can't really complain. All in all, it was good and I will go back when I am...
