Try the PLATTER! Absolutely delicious!!!!
We tried the Serbian platter for $35 it came with a ton of serbian meat which was savory and delicious. It was served with raw onions and a milky cream spread which went so well with the bread and cuts of meat. It came with a fresh loaf of bread right out of the oven. Crunchy exterior and soft interior.
We also ordered the grilled veggies $7 which were grilled to perfection and went well with the meat platter. We also tried their Serbian coffee for $4.
The total was $51 which was absolutely worth it!!! Everything was tasty and fresh and great portions!
The only reason I didn't give five stars was because they ran out of pork neck which was part of the Serbian platter and we were looking forward to trying it. They did give us a different type of meat but I wish they would have let us know in advance before placing the order in the kitchen.
The venue itself is beautiful, they have a large dining space and an indoor and outdoor patio and indoor bar. Beautiful. The server did a great job of explaining the menu since it was our first time eating there and trying this cuisine.
Definitely would return if in the area! The galloping ghost, largest arcade in the world, is located a few feet away. So cool!...
Read morePljeskavica, basically, a mixed-meat patty made with any combination of ground beef, lamb and pork. Yes, you read that right, the huge piece of meat on the plate is actually a patty. Think of it as your average patty on steroids, haha.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐥 The patty was so delicious, it put our average beef patty to shame. The meat was succulent, juicy and soo flavorful. Came with a side of freshly diced onions, lettuce, tomato, and a little bit of kaymak (a condiment somewhere between butter and cream cheese- delicious). Even the bread or pita that it came with was so soft and fresh. The whole dish was done just right and there wasn't a thing we could complain about. Simple and perfect. Most dishes are huge in portion size and are meant to share.
The place has a nice seating area with enough space to accommodate huge crowds. There's an outdoor seating option too. The wait staff is nice, patient and polite, given it took us several minutes to figure out what we needed to order. They have a full bar with sports playing on big(ish) screens. One of the better restaurants near LaGrange area for a fancy-but-casual lunch or dinner, especially if you'd like to try Balkan cuisine. Also, they have live music or a band performance mostly every weekend. Definitely...
Read more(short version) A nice, well lit restaurant conveniently located near the Galloping Ghost Arcade. Friendly staff will be happy to present options that may surprise you. Portion sizes are very generous and and worth the price. If you have never been to Skadarliya and are in the area you should give it a try!
(long version) My first experience with a Balkans themed restaurant. Atmosphere was very nice, spacious and well lit, there even was an outdoor smoking section which was a surprise to both myself and my wife (this did not affect our experience in a negative way). Our waitress was friendly and provided excellent suggestions. Portion sizes were very generous and we were unable to finish all of the food we received. The location is perfect for anyone spending the day at the Galloping Ghost Arcade. The only small criticism I had regarding the food (and it may be because it was my first experience) was that the meat was a bit mild for my tastes. It wasn't bland but it didn't quite pack a large punch either, ultimately (if I could) I would be going back again to try the different options that are available. The shopska salad was very good though and very tomatoey. If you haven't tried Skadarliya and you're in the area you should...
