If I could give this Antique Mall a negative star, I would. I used to go to this mall for all of the nice, well made, still in good condition decor in my home. You could always walk out of there with a new treasure. I had not been there since Covid and made the mistake of going there recently. No friendly smiles, no kind words when you enter. No greetings of any kind anymore. Just someone looking up from their book to yell, "use the hand sanitizer over there", which by the way is like water and messy. Nothing to wipe the mess off of your hands. I know that a lot of businesses have suffered during Covid, and it's been difficult. Especially a business like this that depends on other people's disposal income, which there isn't much to go around these days. You would think that they would go the extra mile for the customers that they do get to walk in the door. The mall is messy and now looks like a glorified garage sale in certain areas. Even the front window display was not the cute creative window it used to be. The lobby is now over done without having a good mix of what the mall has to offer. The few great dealers that were still there, still have great booths, but are now surrounded by junk. Over priced, dirty, broken junk. I feel bad for those dealers that have done an amazing job keeping their booths fresh and orderly. After doing some research, I learned that they were purchased by a "somewhat" investor property owner who owns strip malls. They are also under new management since that purchase and that explains everything. It seems the purpose of this building is to just collect rent and not really care about what type of goods these renters are selling. This was a place that when my out of town friends came to visit, I would take them there for a fun day and nice lunch in downtown LaGrange. It is so so sad to see the "real" Jackson...
Read moreOur five star review is to say thank you to all that are part of or work at Jackson Square Mall LaGrange, IL, all that shop at Jackson Square, and all the dealers trying to share wonderful treasures for the amazing supporters that shop at Jackson Square. I may be a bit biased since I'm one of the lucky people to be part of the Jackson Square Family. But I shop there too! And I have many friends and family members that shop there too...(locally and across the country via online shopping or just by calling JSM!) and they continue to support our efforts as a small business there...all our customers do (well there's always the few bullies in the world!) ...and well...like any business...it is not simple. But Jackson Square is just one of those places striving to be a place where families or anyone may shop...for antiques, home decor, rare and unique items...or that piece of furniture that is perfect for home or office. Or gifts for all ages and interests...vintage and new!! And there's many events there that JSM sponsors to help other small business people...or help with an event in the community...or just to bring joy to children and all sorts of people they serve...and we just wish we would win the lottery to show our gratitude and love for JSM. In the meantime; this review is for all thinking about shopping for antiques or gifts or furniture...or those toying with the idea of being an antique dealer at JSM...or a customer wanting to leave a positive review...I'm saying...it's a special place to shop and relax...and find treasures that just aren't everywhere. And .... we are very grateful .... to JSM ....for giving us the chance to continue to learn ... and be a part of this business of doing our best for the best customers in the Midwest and all over the world. Cause....that's what JSM is about! ...
Read moreI came here in November during a weekend trip to see the lights at the Arboretum and I absolutely loved it. Usually when I am in a place this big I get fatigue from looking at the same boring things over and over. But there were a lot of unique finds and fun displays that made our long hunt exciting. I was with non-antique loving friends but could have spent even longer there than I did! Easily a place to lose 2 hours if you take delight in looking around. It was just one of those places where you never know what’s around the corner. I personally like the weird stuff (I ended up buying a glass mannequin head and almost bought some of the taxidermy etc.) and I find old American knick knacks boring, and that’s why I liked this place so much. There’s a lot more here than just lace doilies and teapots.
Some prices felt high but most were not outrageous. For example, there was an enormous pane of stained glass (like 4 ft tall) of a bunch of cats (aka what a statement piece!) and it was $70 in the basement. Super fair. But, the clean white deer skull in the window that would fit into any boho Pottery Barn house was very expensive. So, I feel like you’ll pay extra for things that are high appeal, but the niche items felt fair, especially down in the basement level.
I’ve been missing my secondhand hunting so much during lockdown and I can’t wait to make the drive from Chicago to visit again - it was the first place I wanted to go when the...
