Winking Lizard Macedonia — Restaurant in Macedonia

Jan 2020 updare: Ordered a large Tavern Salad that I had to send back due to brown and wilted lettuce. Showed it to the manager, who apologized and offered a fresh-made salad. Second salad was marginally better in that I only found half a dozen brown and wilted pieces of lettuce (I'll try to post pics). A person shouldn't have to dig through a $9 salad to make it fit to eat. I showed the second round of brown/wilted lettuce of the 'improved" salad to the same manager, who apologized and shook his head sadly but did NOT offer to reduce my check (as most eateries would). I won't be back. If you have to dine here, stick to the proteins. ADDENDUM: After sharing my woe with my very good server Chris, he spoke with the manager and the salad charge was removed.

2016 review: The food and service are usually good but I am rating them poorly because they have three smoking tables on the patio that are surrounded by nonsmoking tables on two sides. The manager explained that this is legal, that they "don't want to offend our smoking customers ", and that nonsmokers "can always eat inside". I think it's inconsiderate to force nonsmoking customers inside, and to force their servers to be exposed to the health risks of secondhand smoke.

So although forcing smokers to eat without a cigarette is unreasonable even though it doesn't hurt their health, it's reasonable to force servers and patio customers to risk their health so a few smokers won't have to go an hour without a cigarette. Clearly they value the minority who smoke more than the majority who don't. For Pete's sake, even many smokers prefer not to be exposed to smoke while they're eating.

But their message is clear: a few smokers' habits are more important than their servers' and customers' health. Here's my message: my weekly visits here are over, as are my quarterly staff...

Yesterday afternoon I visited the winking lizard in Macedonia around 3pm. Of course it was wing day. But, wing night had just started A friend and I sat down and had our order taken by Brendon Y I believe is is name. He was very rude and acted like he didn’t want to be at work that day. We felt very uncomfortable, but still decided to order. We both ordered wings, drinks, fries and onion rings from the drinks to the food was horrible. We both ordered crispy wings. They came out undo we had to send them back remember you it wasn’t busy. So we told one server that our wings wasn’t down and she went to get Brendon he came out and asked about my wings being undo I said yes he reached over my fries, drinks without saying excuse me and took my food back only for the rude manger i believe he was the GM to bring me back the same wings that were dropped again in the same sauce he never apologized etheir they have bad bad customer service or I’m not sure if it was because we are colored I never get treated like this at the winking lizard in independence. I felt like this was a waste of our money to be treated so horribly yet not apologized to or accommodated for anything. You all should be ashamed the male management...

Just needed to find a place this afternoon to go over some work materials and thought I would try the Winking Lizard. Spent over 2 hours at the booth they provided me and the waitress was so wonderful. She never rushed me. I was able to accomplish what I needed and have a great meal. I even had to step out to make a call and when I returned she was funny.. She mentioned that I was finally back and that my beer was probably warm now. I hope she was being funny, anyway. I played a few songs then when I was ready to leave, I asked her if I could get a coffee to go. She said, "sure, will a kids cup be alright?". I said yes but was not aware it would be the thin, I mean Uber thin, plastic cup it was. She tripled the cups but man was it still hot 🔥 so I grabbed a few napkins and made it to my car and transferred it to my travel mug without a problem. So all in all, another great experience at this particular Winking Lizard. I have gone twice now but being new to the area, I now know I have a place I can go to either get a little work done or to just relax and watch a game on one of the several TV's they have. I'll be back and if ya read this far, I highly recommend a visit to the Macedonia...
