Tenmii is now open! I attended the soft opening today and got a to-go order of the Tenmii plate with Tenmii chicken, rice, and the bomb bomb sauce. The chicken was absolutely delicious. I found it to be very crispy outside and tender and juicy inside. It also came with Japanese slaw and pickled cucumbers and radish, which was all very delicious and complimentary to the chicken. Now I will also say the bomb bomb sauce set me on fire. 🔥🔥🔥 They told me it was hot! I had to give it a try. You'll love it if you enjoy super spicy sauce. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and cozy. I can't wait to return with my family and try more of this delicious food! Day 2 update: It was so good, I went back again with my family and dined in. The was absolutely amazing and the owners are so kind and courteous. Today we tried another assortment of fabulous dishes: Japanese Kare bowl with Tenmii chicken, Chizu Cheese bowl with Tenmii chicken, Tenmii Pork Chashu, and the fried tofu. Everything was sensational, but I'm particularly fond of the Pork Chashu, which is slow braised in Shoyu for 36 hours! Believe me when I say it was heavenly! We can't wait to go back again and try more dishes. Macon foodies, let's rally around this amazing family owned restaurant and show them love and support while they're getting on their feet. Be patient as they are small and a little busy right now. I promise it's...
Read moreTo start out, I am not a huge japanese food nerd. My knowledge of japanese food is limited to sushi and japanese steakhouses. And this is NOT a japanese steakhouse OR a sushi bar. However this is a delicious interpretation of Japanese comfort food. The gentleman at the front counter did an EXCELLENT, job at explaining the dishes on the menu as well as making notes of his favorite dishes. He is very passionate about the food and the restaurant he is running. Many of the dishes looked very appetizing, but my basic american butt couldnt sprawl out of my safe zone and get anything other than a sandowich. It was still very delicious and filling. Next time I'll feel much more comfortable choosing something a little more out of my comfort zone. Macon is very fortunate to have this eatery in the area, as it stands out from most japanese places between Macon and Atlanta. I hope that many come see and support this business so it can continue to grow to become a Macon staple. Dont be fooled by other slacker reviewers that only chime in to run their mouth without details. This isnt the place to get a 6 pack of chicken nuggets, if youre running to Zaxbys instead of Publix for chicken then you already invalidated the idea of you having good taste in food. If you aren't ready for your eyes to be opened to what Japanese comfort food could be, then just go back to your goto chinese...
